Historia
Lydia works as translator for the Logi cultural attaché to Earth. They work well together, even if the act of translating his thoughts into English makes her somewhat wobbly on her feet. She’s not the agency’s best translator, but what else is she going to do? She has no qualifications and no discernible talent in any other field. So when tragedy strikes and Lydia finds herself at the center of an intergalactic incident, her future employment prospects look dire—that is, if she can keep herself out of jail!

Brilliant on so many levels!

A heroine you will want as a friend. Excellent world building and a highly engaging story. Fabulous narrator whose voice i want to hear again.

Historia
In one terrifying event called the Ninety-Nine, all major military installations on earth were eviscerated. But by whom? Foreign powers, AIs, ETs? Every conceivable adversary was ruled out. Reeling from massive casualties and amid hundreds of conspiracy theories, humanity creates Andrones: bipedal android drones piloted remotely by soldiers who will never again need to be on the field of battle. Newly minted Androne pilot Sergeant Paxton Arés has now been deployed into a fight against an enemy no one understands or has ever seen.

Lots of F-bombs in dialog
Revisado: 06-18-24
Lots of f-bombs in dialog so if this bothers you then you are forewarned. While the story is a unique idea and the performance and writing are fine and well executed, I found the story telling to be a bit too juvenile —excessive use of f-bombs indicative— and not very interesting. While the reader had a nice voice, it was too youthful sounding and made me think this was a YA novel —it sounded like a teenager of about 18. And if Im not mistaken, he is supposed to be older in the story. Repeated references to “killing his mother at his birth” were rather hyperbolic and i suppose meant to show the lead character’s wounds/hardship. Overall rather boring with some interesting sections. Not my cup of tea.

Historia
The Galahad, a faster-than-light spacecraft, carries 50 scientists and engineers on a mission to prepare Kepler 452b, Earth's nearest habitable neighbor at 1400 light years away. With Earth no longer habitable and the Mars colony slowly failing, they are humanity's best hope. After 10 years in a failed cryogenic bed - body asleep, mind awake - William Chanokh's torture comes to an end as the fog clears, the hatch opens, and his friend and fellow hacker, Tom, greets him...by stabbing a screwdriver into his heart. This is the first time William dies.

Blech. Man vs. AI with an annoying narrative voice.
Revisado: 07-09-23
This is simply boring. I keep waiting for it to get better and it’s not. Unless you’re a software developer I reckon, then maybe you’d enjoy this. . Or really into AI. I’m a third of the way into this book and there are only two people who are telling the story. The protagonist and the AI. Go for it if that’s your jam. I prefer space opera or sci-fi with more than two characters. The narrator’s sounds more like a man for a military story. I don’t like his voice at all. My opinion or course. Glad this was free.
