Historia
For his entire life, Charley Sutherland has concealed a magical ability he can't quite control: He can bring characters from books into the real world. His older brother, Rob - a young lawyer with a normal house, a normal fiancee, and an utterly normal life - hopes that this strange family secret will disappear with disuse, and he will be discharged from his life's duty of protecting Charley and the real world from each other. But then, literary characters start causing trouble in their city, making threats about destroying the world...and for once, it isn't Charley's doing.

The Best
Revisado: 02-02-22
The story of this book speaks to me as it is a representation of the love of reading and how characters become real and meaningful. I love literary theory, and even readers unfamiliar with the allusions in this story will enjoy the poignant development of the brothers and what it means to be family.

Too much cursing
Revisado: 08-28-20
I really like the author’s style and have listen to almost all of his books; however, this one had too much superfluous cursing, most of which didn’t add to character development or plot excitement. Additionally, it was harder to follow, with twists here and there that didn’t have quite enough elaboration to make sure the reader was sure of the revelation of the secret inside the twist. Keep the style of the other books!

Historia
It’s a war filled with larger than life characters. There will be sledging, accusations of cheating, theft and performance enhancing drugs. And allegations that Australia was cheated out of a Guinness World Record. In the process of charting the scandal-plagued race to breed the world’s hottest chilli, the audio documentary lifts the lid on the subculture of ‘Chilli-heads’, hardcore chilli fans spread across the globe who compete in chilli eating and breeding competitions.

Interesting but not for children
Revisado: 08-13-19
They warned that it would have mature content and/or language, and it did (not appropriate for kids). For adults, though, it is a fascinating documentary-style story of the chili community. It contains cultural implications and various perspectives.

Great story—a tad scandalous for youngsters
Revisado: 03-17-19
The narrator (performer) is brilliant. The characters and storyline are exciting. However, it’s a bit risqué for the potential younger audience in terms of language and sexual content. I know many kids see and hear those aspects daily, but I was a little surprised that Chima went farther in this series than in the 7 Realms. I would not recommend it for middle schoolers; consider it solidly PG-13.

Intrigue
Revisado: 12-25-18
Full of intrigue and twists! No “good” characters exist—only morally ambiguous ones. It makes for an interesting read as you aren’t really sure you like any of them, but for some reason, you are still rooting for certain relationships and plots to succeed. Worth a read! I wouldn’t recommend it to children, though!

A little too much...
Revisado: 09-14-18
While I like cute teen romances, I’m fairly conservative. I’m not a fan of curse words or sex before marriage. I know it’s common in today’s society, and older teenagers can handle reading about it without it swaying their judgment, but I’d be a little concerned with younger, more impressionable children reading this book.

Fun story
Revisado: 07-22-18
I really enjoyed the storyline, characters, and narrator. The nerdy/geeky allusions were hilarious and entertaining. However, I didn’t enjoy the atheist POV (a bit pushy at times) and the cursing (while sometimes amusing, other times unnecessary.)
