Historia
DCI Warren Jones is deep into the investigation into an apparent murder-suicide when another case is thrust onto his desk. Winnie Palmer, missing for two months, has been found dead, her body stripped and propped against a tree in the woods. Two cases are more than enough to handle—but things get even harder for the team when they realise the cases might be linked. And when a third suspicious death is added to the pile, it raises a horrible question. Is there a serial killer on the loose?

Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

Have to call this unbelievable
Revisado: 02-22-25
Harry’s Daughter is on patrol with less than 1-2 years and she gets moved over to the open unsolved unit even as a volunteer its a push. Then after only a few days or weeks she solved the biggest murder case in LA history.
The book moves along fine however the case always seems to be solved with 10 pages to go.
I have read all of MC. books most twice it reminds me of Steven Kings novels like IT or the Stand you read 700-800 pages than on page 801 they were eaten by a giant spider at the end!

The newspaper refers to the body only as Victim 2117 - the 2117th refugee to die in the Mediterranean Sea. But to three people, the unnamed victim is so much more, and the death sets off a chain of events that throws Department Q, Copenhagen’s cold cases division led by Detective Carl Mørck, into a deeply dangerous - and deeply personal - case. A case that not only reveals dark secrets about the past, but has deadly implications for the future.

Two stories not connected
Revisado: 02-01-25
I have read every book in this series in this book you have two investigations going on at the same time. I missed the connection between the two. Additionally they caught the young boy at the end of the story almost as an after thought and in an unbelievable way.
Will listen to the next book and look for an improvement if someone wants to tell me what I missed please comment

Redacted
Revisado: 05-19-24
I agreed with another reviewer think he said the word REDACTED was used hundreds of times. Then the person telling the story would interrupt and give a footnote that other than taking up the readers time didn't progress the story…

Historia
In the dead of night, a farmer confronts the intruders of a break in, having no idea that the encounter will leave him dead. What’s more chilling is the truth of what the perpetrators were willing to kill for. At the scene, DS Roy Grace senses that this is no mere botched robbery; it’s the tip of the iceberg of a nationwide crime epidemic. Ruthless gangs, operating with military precision, have discovered a new black market flourishing in the shadows – an unthinkable source of wealth even more profitable than drugs.

What a Crock
Revisado: 03-24-21
This is one of the worst books I have ever read a bunch of crooked cops Rips a drug dealer for 50K of cocaine and a member of the force is killed during the operation. Every bad guy in the city suspects them of the theft yet IAD does not have a clue. So many members of this special unit are bent it makes it sound like 90% of the NYPD are on the take. Very poorly written with more phony dialogue than you have sand on Jones Beach,
Makes me wonder if Don Winslow ever even met a real-life Det. 1st Grade or just watch really bad cop shows from the 1970’s

Two different races are at war but they never communicate or go back to their home world until the end of the book. One of the waring factions have battle suits that make them almost invisible so why are they assimilating other races to fight for them?
