Historia
Is America as divided as it seems? As a graduate student at Oxford, Ryan Bernsten undertook a 23,000-mile journey through all 50 states to look beyond the news cycles and see his home country from the ground. Following in the footsteps of Alexis de Tocqueville, Bernsten leads with the desire to listen and find common humanity in Americans he meets across the country. Bernsten ultimately offers a hopeful vision for the future of America, as he embarks on a search for meaning and reflects on what it means to be American.

A Journey to the West & the People that Live There
Revisado: 08-24-23
Incredible journey of a remarkable individual who is taking it upon himself to help this county become more supportive and understanding. Ryan is challenging his own perspective to understand and interact with other communities throughout the country for the betterment of himself and others. He chooses to find optimism and inspires readers to believe in a more cohesive democracy by sharing his story. Inspiring and highly recommended!

It is only the start.
Revisado: 05-02-22
A great segue in to the journey of knowing yourself and understanding the world around you. Though not by any means all encompassing this book had me wanting to dive down my own rabbit hole of research. It has a heart felt sentiment that allowed me to connect with the topics in a meaningful way.

As Catherine searches for clues to her mother's elusive history, she discovers that Marijana was orphaned during WWII, nearly died as a teenager, and escaped from Communist Yugoslavia to Rome, and then South America. Through travel and memory, history and imagination, Catherine resurrects the relatives she's never known.

A truly beautiful story
Revisado: 12-11-21
A very relatable and moving story. I was so surprised when the story ended. It felt almost like the story was continuing with the authors life. I will be recommending this to others.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.
