If you like a slow burn romance that builds and builds, then Only With Me is for you! Waylon and Harlow are such a sweet and spicy pairing, both having wit for days. They shouldn’t be together, Waylon is the ex-boyfriend of Harlow’s older sister. He is twelve years older than her and way more experienced. But there is such a pull between the two that they keep being drawn to one another. Having that chemistry be narrated by the powerhouse duo of Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson takes this book to a whole new level! They’re Amazing! Absolutely perfect picks for these characters!
Waylon has a twin brother that has caused him more grief and suffering than a person should handle in an entire lifetime, and they’re only thirty two. It’s because of this, having to keep an eye on him constantly that has kept Waylon from dating. Not to mention his heartbreak from years ago. Harlow is twenty, sweet, innocent, and eager to learn. Everything. She has a tragic past, as well as a father to care for, that has kept her from going out and meeting guys. The two of them meet over a group chat that Waylon is thrown into by a friend. He and Harlow start chatting first in the chat, then in a private conversation for a month. Here’s the catch, neither of them knows who the other is, but they have such great conversations they don’t want to break the mystery of Mystery Guy and Poison Ivy Girl. Until one day they’re to meet, and things don’t end up as planned…
I enjoyed the banter and build up between them. There were some interesting ‘lessons’ that Harlow wanted to learn and be skilled at, and Waylon was all too willing to teach her. Even if a bit hesitant, he preferred it to be him rather than literally anyone else. Waylon is a master dirty talker 🫠 which Harlow definitely appreciated. It takes a while to get to the spicier bits, but when it does, it hits! In addition to the getting to know each other parts, they are each dealing with family mental health issues that take a lot of their time and energy. The author mentions in the beginning that she wanted to discuss her experiences with these situations, using her characters. There are many issues that could be triggering because of that, so be sure to check the content warnings prior to diving in.
Teddy Hamilton and Ava Erickson added so much depth to this story with their superior narration. Hamilton is a master at bringing out every emotion of the characters and transitioning flawlessly. Erickson has one of the most soothing voices I’ve heard in the audiobook world. She makes listening a treat, nailing each character to perfection, and making me not want to stop listening. These two were stellar. I was drawn to this book because of them. I will listen to anything they narrate!
This story isn’t all sunshine and daisies, there are some twists, turns, and tragedy and will keep the readers/listeners intrigued. Though there are some tough, heart heavy moments, the story does end with an HEA. I want to extend a thank you to Brooke Montgomery and Must Love Audio for allowing me to listen to and review this title. I hope that everyone gives this audiobook and entire series a listen!
🐴 “To her, it was a learning experience. But for me, I’ve fallen deeper.”
🐴 “Good f***in’ girl… just like that, sweetheart.”
🐴 “Don’t hold back. I wanna hear you scream while you c**e on me.”

Walker Dunn is still recovering from an accident that happened months ago. He’s been working hard to get back on the Tempest starting roster, but things aren’t progressing like he and the ‘big wigs’ have been hoping for. In comes Eva Bradshaw, hired by the team to get Walker back in shape. There’s no way this ‘princess’ is going to be able to help him improve his health. At least he’ll have a damn fine time looking at the gorgeous woman during their time together. Eva is not one to take the banter Walker gives her without dishing is right back, and damn, does he enjoy it.
The two have instant chemistry, but nothing can happen between them with Walker’s career and Eva’s future is on the line. Not to mention that Eva’s past included having her heart broken by a hockey player, solidifying that there will be never be another one in her life in that way. There is just something about the cocky Walker that feels, right. The back and forth, will they or won’t they, should they just say ‘f*** it’ or not, makes for a lighthearted hockey romance.
The incredibly talented Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Brentmoor brought these characters to life. Hamilton has a way of matching his performance to each character flawlessly, as does the magnificent Brentmoor. The two bring out every vibe, nuance, feeling, and emotion from the character to the listener, enhancing the experience ten fold. Even from their own separate booths, Hamilmoor brings such chemistry to the audiobook that makes it a joy to listen to.
Thank you to Sylvia Pierce and Must Love Audio for allowing me to listen and review this title. It was a fun audiobook that I hope everyone picks up! 🤍
Why my rating despite the positive leaning review? 1. I hope everyone reads/listens and comes up with their own opinion about the book. 2. Teddy and Sam are freaking amazing narrators. 3. I think others may really like this book. 4. I wasn’t overly wowed by this story. It was entertaining but I just couldn’t get into it.

Harlow James did it again. Geez oh man was this a great story! It started hot, hit some slow burn, and absolutely nailed the “she’s mine and I will protect her no matter what.” This series had my heart with Dallas and Willow, completely melted me with Penn and Astrid, and now just floored me with Grady and Scotty. When Harlow herself told me before it was announced that Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor were going to be narrating this, first I was like, “umm, are we besties now since I know something before pretty much everyone else?!” (j/k) 🤣 then I was like HOLY SHIT THIS IS GOING TO BE EPIC! SebYo and Sam were phenomenal as Grady and Scottie, such a great casting choice for these amazing characters!
Grady and Scottie were best friends growing up, once they graduated, each moved to a different part of the country to pursue their dreams. Over the years they kept in contact, until one day they didn’t, and there was part of Grady that always wondered, “what if.” So years later when fate brought them together again, Grady was absolutely not going to miss a chance to be with Scottie. They had a super hot night together, and then she disappeared without a word or phone number. Grady was resigned that yet again she was out of his life for good. That is, until eight weeks later when Scottie moves back home to Carrington Cove for a new life, which she gets in more than one way. Uncertainty, insecurities, and ghosts of the past threaten to keep Grady from Scottie.
Grady and Scottie have such great chemistry between them, which James writes in a way that makes the reader completely invested in the characters. I found myself rooting so hard for them! Scottie has a difficult time trusting people since she was burned so many times over the years by her jerk of an ex-husband and the father of her teenage son. She just wants a fresh start, but that start looks different with the revelation of the news she has that affects not only her future, but Grady’s as well. But Grady is all in. He sees a future with Scottie, now he just needs to get her to see it too. The lengths he goes to are swoonworthy. And he doesn’t just try to get Scottie to trust him, but her son Chase too. He is such a great role model for Chase, both on the field, and in life. I LOVED Grady’s character so much!
It was so great to see our Carrington Cove residents again! And to meet Scottie’s grandma, Gigi?! OMG she is one of the BEST side characters ever! Hilarious 🤣 Oh and the timing of the resurgence of the geese 🤭 perfection! I appreciated when Grady tended to Scottie’s ‘needs.’ I loved seeing the two of them grow closer, banter together, Grady working with Chase, his protectiveness, and just, AH!, everything about this story!
Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor are legends, and two of my favorite all time narrators. York performs the grumpy, broody, protective MCs with incredible skill and energy. Brentmoor blows my mind with every character she performs: male, female, old, young, sultry, sassy, you name it and she voices them to perfection. How she narrates a teenage boy so well, I’ll never know, but boy do I enjoy it! 🤣 York and Brentmoor are two of the most skilled and versatile narrators out there. They did such a fantastic job as Grady and Scottie, I didn’t want it to end!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Harlow James! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your ARC team, for writing such amazing books with characters we love, for being a super human who has a day job and then somehow does this at night, and for always trying to connect with your readers. I appreciate you so much! Keep doing what you’re doing, because you were meant for this. 🩷
⚾️“Being back in Scottie’s presence is like taking a breath after being underwater for hours. I know it’s impossible to hold your breath that long, but now that she’s sitting in front of me, I feel alive again, like a weight was just lifted from my chest. And f***. She’s even more gorgeous than I remember.”
🔧“With one taste I know that this woman just might ruin me.”
⚾️“F***, Scottie. Keep doing that and I’m going to c**e down your throat.”
🔧“I’ll be damned if I’m not there for every moment I can be.”
⚾️“My heart can’t handle this right now. I thought men like you were just a legend that some women talked about, but never truly existed.”
🔧“But first, you’re going to get my tongue because tasting you the first time made me realize that I have a new drug of choice… and that’s your p***y, Scottie.”

Rule number one of bro-code: exes, sisters and of course, wives are off-limits. Don't think about them and sure as hell don't kiss them. But what if your best friend dies, and suddenly you want the woman who has always been his? Four years ago my childhood friend lost his life serving our country, and Astrid and her kids became my responsibility. But before I knew it, something started to shift between us. Her smile started to make my stomach twist. Our conversations gave me something to look forward to.

Ok. I really enjoyed this story. When I finished Somewhere You Belong, I absolutely NEEDED Astrid and Penn’s story. And boy oh boy do Ms. James deliver! From Astrid’s guilt to Penn’s pining, to the tension and banter, then throw in some revelations and a WHAT THE WHAT?! at the end, and you have one fantastic story. Not to mention the stunning performances of Vanessa Edwin and Aiden Snow. Holy smokes. The casting was PERFECTION. You are going to want to add this to your TBR/TBL immediately! I. Want. More. 😆
Penn has been pining for Astrid for years; she has been fighting all of her feelings when it comes to moving on after her husband’s death. Astrid is afraid, especially with the feelings she has for her late husband’s best friend. She doesn’t want to risk their friendship. He has been there for her in ways no one else, least of all her late husband, ever has. The feelings Penn has for Astrid have only grown, even if she’s kept him at arm’s length. But those feelings are starting to change, but can they move past their guilt to something more?
I’m OBSESSED with how supportive and sweet Penn is. It may be his “weakness,” always giving to others and sacrificing himself in the process. But when it comes to how much he cares about Astrid?? GAHHH. I want one! Penn may be the strong, silent type in most scenarios, but in the bedroom? Yeah, that’s not one. DAY-UM PENN! Holy commanding hotness coming out of his mouth 🥵.
This is my sixth Harlow James book and I can’t get enough of her! Her talent astounds me, in that I know she has a full time job, yet she’s cranking out these amazingly swoonworthy books that make me fall in love again and again. Like, I want to live in Carrington Cove so bad 😅 I want to get up and walk to the shops to get coffee, get one of Astrid’s muffins, see Dallas and Willow fight off some geese, and watch Grady ward off all the ladies trying to get all up on him.
AND THEN…you have the massively talented narrators, Vanessa Edwin and Aiden Snow. I think this is my season of Vanessa Edwin. I’ve listened to her a lot lately and every time it just gets more enjoyable! She is wickedly talented and has such ease moving from character to character, and vibe to vibe. Pair her skills with that of AIDEN FREAKING SNOW?! AHHH! Holy swoon-growl-melty pants. He is so good at what he does, and is perfectly cast for Penn. I mean come on! That mouth on Penn, voiced by Aiden? Done. Melted. Get the mop because I’m a puddle on the floor. He is amazing at every narration he does, but this is by far my favorite!
Thank you Harlow for letting me be on your ARC team I’m so thankful you allow me to read/listen to your babies! 💜
🧁”I love my kids… but being a mom is not enough. I want more. I need more. And I’m tired of being made to feel like desiring more is unrealistic.”
🔨“I’m never alone when you’re here.”
🧁“Good girl. Now let me know exactly how to make you c*** on my tongue.”
🔨”I love hearing you scream for me. It’s become my new favorite sound.”
🧁“That’s it, Astrid. Look at you take me, beautiful. Look at your p***y stretched around me.” She moans as I keep up my pace. “You make me so f***ing h@rd,”

In Fiasco, Kentucky, there is one rule: never fall for a Foxx brother. Any woman who did, ended up dead—or so the rumor goes. Townies call it a curse. But I’ve lived it, and I won’t survive it again. I’m not a cop anymore, but I’ve seen enough danger to know that Laney Young, the beautiful stranger who just showed up in my small town, is running from it. She’s lying about where she came from and what she’s doing here. I don’t want her near my family or the quiet life I’ve made for myself. But my brothers have other plans.

Oh my goodness, did I love this story! It’s definitely a slow burn, but as with a well aged Bourbon, it needs time for its greatness to be tasted. And this story is top shelf! There is great tension, mystery, spice, banter, and suspense throughout the entire book. All of the elements that I look for in a great story! Plus the audiobook is narrated by two of my FAVORITE NARRATORS OF ALL TIME! Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor were the perfect paring for Grant and Laney. I want to go back and listen all over again! Victoria Wilder wrote a banger, and having CraisMoor narrate the audiobook? PERFECTION. No. Notes. (But like, notes, because this is a review and I have to 🤣 all good things though!)
Laney Young is new to Fiasco, Kentucky, escaping from danger where no one knows her, dropped at the home of one of the cursed Foxx brothers. Rumors fly about who she is, but Grant Foxx doesn’t need to listen to the rumors. The moment he laid eyes on her, out in the yard in nothing but a t-shirt, he knew that she was trouble. He also knew that she was lying about why she was in Fiasco. Laney was as instantly attracted to the handsome Grant Foxx, as he was to her. She challenged him, and he made her feel bold. The two are fire together, in more ways than one. As they get closer, neither wants the dangers of the past that haunts them to harm the other. But they may not have a choice in the pain.
I love that Laney is finding who she is in this new place, despite the reasons she is there. Her quippy banter and boldness that she sees fit to unleash on those around her, on those who deserve it, is priceless. I love strong independent female characters, and I love when they don’t need a man, but if there is one, that the man knows she doesn’t need him, but wants him. Grant is that type of man. He sees Laney’s strength and is drawn closer to her, rather than put off by it. Grant is a strong man who wants this strong woman, and damn, does he know what to do with her when he gets her 🥵🫠. The mouth on that man is smokin’ hot, but Laney sure knows how to give it right back! 😏😮💨
Connor Crais made the perfect Grant Foxx- rugged, gruff, thoughtful, and supportive. Plus Crais’s ‘grandpa’ voice is fantastic 😂 I always love listening to him, but this type of character is where he, in my opinion, excels. His talent is unmatched and each time I listen to him narrate, he hones his skills even more, creating such an incredible listening experience. Opposite Crais is the fantastic Samantha Brentmoor. Could she BE any more talented?! (If you read that in ‘Joey’s’ voice, you’re my kind of people lol) She is so incredibly skilled that I forget that this amazing human being is performing, rather than performing the character in the story. Her transitions, vibes, artistry, just everything about her is stunning. I am in awe of these two. Total one click narrators!
Victoria Wilder. Ma’am! You wrote a story that I want to live in, with characters I want to know! My gosh, what a fantastic book, and the audiobook!? GAH! The story. The cover. The narration. You’ve got yourself a winner! 🤩 I’m SO here for this series! So thank you for writing this book! And a massive thank you to you and HomeCookedBooks for letting me listen to and review this title! It. Was. AMAZING! I hope everyone listens because DAMN. 🔥

🐍“Laney, there’s no way that being your friend would ever be enough for me.”
🥃“I want to messy her up and then lick her clean.”

Ok. This book was HOT! Holy smokes! Between the tension that lit up between Kayden and Gareth, the absolutely SMOLDERING intimate scenes, and the ridiculously talented full cast of INCREDIBLE narrators!? My gosh. This audiobook had me in a straight up chokehold, like, locked. in. I loved the glimpses of previous characters we got in this story, the suspense, the obsession, but mostly how intense and pure the love is in this story. If you like super spicy, fast paced books with people realizing who they are? Then this is definitely the book for you!
Gareth Carson is an obsessed narcissist out for revenge. A variable he didn’t account for in his plans turns things around, both in the situation and in his life. Kayden Lockwood has a past that led him to the island to exact revenge. A roadblock in the form of the most beautiful person he’s ever seen, becomes his new obsession. Gareth and Kayden are on a collision course of the darkest push and pull game out there. Each awakens something in the other that neither ever knew was there. Gareth refuses to accept it, having to be forced into it, until he isn’t. Whereas Kayden accepts it, though he can’t, as there are powers that will destroy his little monster.
I was absolutely blown away by Grayson Owens’ and Stephen Dexter’s performances. Holy. WOW. This has to be Owens’ best work yet! Like I was floored by the emotions, the nuances, the sighs and moans, just everything! And Dexter, good gravy, was he amazing. He also brought out every gravelly and distorted piece of Kayden with Perfection! The two of them together were a masterpiece! For that alone, this audiobook is a must listen! In addition to these stars, you also have Shane East, Teddy Hamilton, Corvin King, Samantha Brentmoor, and Vivienne LaRue who brought some new and old characters to life! I love each of them, but a shout out to LaRue because she stunned me, especially with the emotional scene. King intrigued me as Kane, Hamilton brought the fun of Niko back, East always hits, and Brentmoor knows she’s one of my favorites! (I’ve told her enough times 😅) OMG. Easthouse productions did a bang up job with this audiobook!
This audiobook is absolutely worth the listen, definitely a solid beginning to a new series. I want to thank Rina Kent for allowing me to be on her ALC team to listen and review this audiobook! What an absolute honor! I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series as well as a certain nephew’s book 😏.

Oh I absolutely LOVED this book! I have loved this series so far and this book definitely did not disappoint! Did I love it even more because Scarlett is in Ohio and I live in Ohio? And have I always loved the stories with Princes who fall for the small town girl? Yes. Yes to both. 😅 This story is incredibly endearing. Prince Cian is one dirty talking MMC and with him, Scarlett is able to let go and be the self she never thought she could be. And let me tell you, listening to Connor Crais and new to me Amelia Hughes narrate this story?! Absolute. PERFECTION. They were incredible! Oh my goodness. 😍
Cian and Scarlett had one hot weekend together nineteen months ago. One weekend where Cian started falling for her, only to wake up on the final morning with Scarlett gone and no way to contact her. Cian missed Scarlett for those nineteen months, searching for her everywhere. Now because his grandfather, the King of Cara, he’s told he must marry Astrid and produce a child. His bodyguard and best friend Henry found Scarlett. Cian now has nineteen days to get to know her, the real her. After that, he either marries the woman his grandfather wants him to marry, or, Scarlett will finally become his. Matrimony and all.
Scarlett lied to Cian all those months ago. She pretended to be her sister Ruby at the club because of their living situation. So even though she didn’t lie about her name, she ‘became her sister’ with all the things they did together for that weekend. She’s really not the outgoing, siren that Cian thinks she is, therefore, he’s in love with her sister, not her. The more time he spends with her, the more it solidifies that she showed her true self to him. Cian took an idea that Scarlett told him, and made it become a reality. Scarlett gave him purpose, and he wants to give backs in a way that he hasn’t before. He was looking for something that gave him that ‘spark.’ Scarlett gave that to him. In return, he gave Scarlett an avenue to actually achieve her big dreams that she never thought would be a reality. He supports her and encourages her, wants her to realize her potential and that she’s allowed to be happy and do something for herself.
Anyone who knows me or has been following my reviews knows my love for Connor Crais’ work. He’s such a versatile narrator, but there are certain characters he performs that fit his style. This is one of those characters that matched him so well; the completely in love, protective prince, with a bit of a naughty side. 😅 And pairing him with Amelia Hughes was a fantastic choice because they were amazing together! Hughes was such a great Scarlett, truly captivating. I will definitely be looking for more of her work! I didn’t want the story to end, I LOVED listening to this audiobook!
There is so much to this story but I don’t want to give it away! It is fun, endearing, spicy, has some revelations and growth, and is just downright sweet! A huge thank you to Erin Nicolle and HomeCookedBooks for the ALC so that I could listen and review this title. It was such a treat to be able to continue this series. I am looking forward to the next book! Ohhh Henry and Ruby! Ahh! It’s going to be a good one!

A way to finally contribute the way my siblings do. I told you how I feel like the sidekick to my brother and sister. How I’ve always wanted to find a way to measure up to the amazing things they do. I confessed some pretty f***ing vulnerable stuff. And I thought you understood all of that.”

My boss's secret daughter was never mine to lose. But I lost her anyway. Violet Holt might bend with the wind, but she'll never break. At least, that's what I used to think. Now I'm not so sure. The men who abducted her didn't break her. Nor did the days she spent as their captive. It was my deceit that did it. Now that she's gone, my heart barely beats. The only thing keeping me going is vengeance. I vowed to make the men who hurt her suffer. And I plan to do just that, and win her back in the process.

You know that line in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban where Ron tells Harry, “You’re gonna be miserable, but you’re gonna be happy about it.” Yeah, that’s epitomizes this book. You’re going to be miserable during this book, and not in a “omg this books sucks blahhhh” bullshyte kind of way. Abso-freaking-lutely not. You’ll hurt because of the agony these characters have to go through. Your heart will break for Lettie and Tomer, but they HAVE TO go through it. No wonder our precious Jackie Walker had such a difficult time with these two. They were the Tomer-est and Lettie-est they could be. But ho-ly hell in a hand basket is this book worth the heartbreaking journey you’ll go on. Think of it as that long ass drive to get the best vacation ever, and trust the process. Possibly set up a preemptive appointment with your therapist too. Lettie would approve.
You have to read Unexpected Hero before you can read this book. It picks up moments after book ‘Hero’ leaves off. Lettie has a lot of trauma to face. Tomer has a lot of truths to face. The two of them have so much to work through in order to even have a chance at a happily ever after. Tomer has a lifetime of self doubt and a complete lack of self worth that has led him to all the lies he has told Lettie. What he hasn’t lied about is how he feels about her and he shows that in the gentle, compassionate way he cares for her after the horrific experience she’s survived. Is that enough for her to forgive him? Is love enough?
This book has spice, not a ton, because that’s not the focus. It’s healing, heartbreak, finding oneself, not giving up on those you love, being who you truly are, redemption, forgiving yourself and the love of your life while never forgetting, accepting that you are worthy, and not losing who you are to revenge no matter how much that monster may deserve it. Unexpected Heroine is a journey. An emotional roller coaster that is worth every twist and turn!
Lettie is a hero in a sense to the other women from the nightmare house, to herself, to Tomer. She is strength personified. Everything she has been through and experienced hasn’t broken her, it’s made her a stronger person. She lends that strength to those around her. And with the shitstorm that’s brewing, they’re all going to need that strength.
This book was narrated to perfection, again, by the dynamic duo of Kelsey Navarro Foster and Aaron Shedlock. Every single tear that was shed, every sass that was snarked, every ‘gasm that was O’d, hit the mark. I am in awe of these two. There is no one else that could have narrated Tomer and Lettie. They ARE Tomer and Lettie. Foster and Shedlock blew me away with their performance of book one, captivated me with book two, and I can imagine they are going to positively blow me away with the final book in this trilogy. The only other thing need to say is thank you. Thank you Kelsey and Aaron for doing these amazing characters justice. You brought every nuance out with your incredible talent and I will shout about this series from every rooftop to anyone who will listen to me. You are amazing.
Some thoughts while reading this book:
The amount of understanding Lettie has with what Tomer has been keeping from her, after everything she’s been through is remarkable.
For a man of few words, Tomer says the ones that mean the most.
Ok chapter 24 was heartbreaking.
Bahahaha the hairballs 🤣
Omg Tomer imagining what all the Redleg guys would suggest about Lettie’s winky face emoji 🤣
Am I kind of “into” Boss Dad? 🤭
I’ve already listened to 40 hours of Tomer and Lettie and it’s still not enough, I need more!
🦋“We don’t need evidence, because there will be no trial. I will be the judge, jury, and motherf***ing executioner.”
🦋“If love can shatter so easily, then what I feel for her is not love. It’s more. Because there’s nothing she could ever think, do, or say to remove the imprint she’s made on my soul. Even if she hurt me the way that I will surely hurt her, she would still own my heart. I could never feel anything less than utter adoration and wholeness being in her presence. Never.”
🦋“Violet Holt might bend with the wind, but she doesn’t break.”
🦋“You’re hurting because everyone I love suffers. That’s how you know my feelings for you are true.”
🦋“This is my f***ing p***y. I decide when I’m done eating it.”
🦋“As messengers of hope, endurance, and life, butterflies are angels watching over you.”

Don’t let the sweet book cover fool you. This story is extra spicy with some serious dirty talk, play, and switch energy! Think Hallmark meets Passionflix for this spicy romcom. And whew 🥵 did Alexis Paige and JF Harding bring that spiciness to life! Wowzers they crushed this narration! For The Plot definitely didn’t lack in the plot department, it was succinctly written and very entertaining! The coincidences and multiple meet cute moments were highly enjoyable. Hopefully everyone gives this story a read, and definitely a listen!
Josefine “Joey” Beckham is an editor and aspiring writer. It was her late dad’s wish for her to visit Greece, so she and her producer boyfriend head there for vacation. Cameron Connelly begrudgingly works for his family’s hotel chain and is planning to pop the question to his girlfriend. It may have been arranged by their families, but if he is to get his inheritance, it’s what must be done. It’s on a day excursion to Crete when the fates of Joey and Cam collide, forever changing their future. Each has an upheaval in their lives that leads to them missing the ferry back to their boat and spending a night in a one bed scenario. They’re never going to see each other again, so what’s one night?
Joey is a no nonsense FMC who doesn’t hold back from her feelings, letting people know how she feels and what she wants. That trait along with her stunning beauty, is what draws her to Cam. Her straightforwardness sets a fire in him to change his life, but in doing so, he can’t stop thinking about her. So when fate brings them together again, he will stop at nothing to get her. And hopefully keep her. Though the story could be seen as predictable, it doesn’t make it any less entertaining! It’s like a movie you’ve seen, where you know what’s going to happen, but you want to watch it anyway because who doesn’t love when everything falls perfectly into place!? Joey and Cam have chemistry right from the get go, and seeing their journey is fun. There are jumps in time throughout the book, but it flows with the overall arc of the story.
JF Harding was so freaking good in this audiobook. Every accent, and there were several, was amazing. He paired so well with Alexis Paige, who also did several great accents! The two of them added that extra special something to their performance that elevated the listening experience, especially when the two MCs were bantering, fighting their feelings, or just plain giving in! I really enjoyed listening to the pair of them. The character’s chuckles and sighs, tension and desires, were brought to life by these two. And let me tell you, all that spice I mentioned earlier? Harding and Paige outdid themselves matching each and every spicy scene. Geez. Louise. They did a bang up job! 😏
I want to thank Katie Van Brunt and Sparkflystudio for this ALC and letting me be part of the listening party! I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen and review. I hope that everyone takes this fun trip with Joey and Cam, it’s definitely worth the jet lag! 😂 J/K! Jet lag not included!
🛫“I dare you to f*** me.”
🧳“I ought to bend you over this bar and teach you a lesson for trying to make me jealous like that.” His breath is hot against my ear. I knew he was the bend-you-over type, dammit.”
🛳️“I may be sentimental, but there’s something about second chances that gets me. The possibility that anything can happen.”
🇬🇷“Women should feel empowered in the bedroom, not ashamed. And life’s too short to have terrible s*x.”
📸“Oh, sweetheart, pink is my favorite color. But the only place I want to be marked with it is my c***, when your lips are wrapped around it.”
💻“God!” I scream, reveling in the sensation of being filled up. “That’s not my name, baby, but I love that you think so highly of me.”

The more I watch her, the more the lines blur between protection and obsession. I never intended to come face to face with her, but in a moment of weakness, I intervened. And it changed everything. She makes me feel things. Things I’m not ready to feel. I never thought I had a heart, but the more I'm with her, the faster it beats. Now, I’m left wondering, will she forgive me for the things I’ve done to protect her?

Each time Jackie Walker releases a book I swear it’s her best one. Then she has the mother plucking audacity TO COME OUT WITH AN EVEN BETTER BOOK! 😂 I say that with the utmost love and respect because Holy Shirtballs. Tomer and Lettie are FIRE. This book is a slow burn, until it isn’t. It has tension and SPICE, and just when you think you know where it’s going….NOPE! (Insert Fast and the Furious screeching tires) Totally goes in a new direction. I read Rival Hero, and I knew, I Freaking KNEW what happened, and I was still blindsided by it. But having it narrated by the perfect freaking duo of Kelsey Navarro Foster and Aaron Shedlock!? Geeeeezzzzzz. There aren’t two better humans to perform these two amazing characters.
I don’t know how many times I messaged/commented to Jackie how much I loved Kelsey and Aaron. (And yes, I’m using first names instead of last because I feel that close to them now. We’re freaking besties apparently, even though I’ve never met them in person and I know without a doubt they’re going to shred my heart in Unexpected Heroine. But I’m expecting it…so. Yeah, super punny here lol) For real, these two gave STUNNING performances, hit every single vibe to the utmost perfection, and I shirked all other ARCs/ALCs so that I could spend every moment of my time listening to this book!
This story starts around the time Forbidden Hero begins, and runs parallel with the timeline over the course of a year until it matches up with Rival Hero. Does it end on a bit of a cliffy? Yes. Do you know where it’s going? Sort of. If you’ve read/listened to Rival Hero then you have a general idea. But that isn’t where this book ends. I knew the ending was coming, and then it did, and I was still like WHAT?! That’s where you’re leaving me hanging?! Mind you, I have the entire trilogy sitting on my shelf, so I absolutely could have picked it up, but I had to “adult” and go to work so…BOO! But as of writing this, Jackie sent those of us on her ALC team the Unexpected Heroine audiobook so guess what I’m freaking doing today!!
Ok. Back to the review. Lettie was raised by her grandparents, but it wasn’t until her grandfather was passing that he admitted it. Because of her strict religious upbringing, thanks to her mom, well, grandmother, she was looking for a fresh start. That religious guilt took over her whole life and she wanted to finally experience life on her own away from the constrictions. However, she finds herself in a bit of a pickle when she is running out of money and can’t land a job. Enter Tomer Stillman, I mean, James the Dominant. What a nice guy to offer her some money at the gas pump and then take her out to lunch, and stock her up on food, and secretly get her a job and an apartment. Ok, so he’s a bit of a stalker. But like, a well intentioned one. 😬😅 Ever since he found out Boss has a secret daughter he’s been keeping tabs on her. But especially since she showed up in Clearwater, Florida all the way from Climax, Georgia. Yes, you read that right. Straight outta Climax.
He’s like her knight in shining rope bondage. Well, he’s the one topping, so it could be the other way around. Tomer, aka James, may be withdrawn and reserved, thinking critically and logically about everything (stemming from his own heartbreaking childhood trauma), but when it comes to Lettie, all of that flies out the window. He gets incredibly wrapped up in her, providing for her in ways she is clueless about. They grow close over the course of a year, he supports her in every single way. The two are it for each other. Tomer teaches her about her body, helps her to open up and start to overcome/work through some of the guilt that is so burdensome. But his guilt is boiling over, until the secrets Tomer is keeping gets to Lettie and she is fed up to a point she just can’t stand. Things take a turn for the absolute worst. It is both of their nightmares come to life. Can either of them ever recover from the devastating events? (I don’t know, can they?? I haven’t read the next book yet! 😅)
Though this review was a bit of a roller coaster, I want to thank Jackie for letting me listen to her audiobooks and review them. I am so honored. Her writing style, wit, creative genius, characters, just freaking everything about her is my absolute favorite. I hope everyone at reads this story, but you DEFINITELY need to listen to it. This whole Redleg Security series is AMAZING and one of my all time favorites! PLEASE go read or listen right meow!
