Couldn't get through

I couldn't get through listening to or reading this book. The story moved too slowly and the narration of this book was not at all captivating. The narration was monotone and the dialog was overacted. Arent the mermaids mainly women? So, why is Daveed Diggs narrating? Bahni Turpin would have brought this story to life & at least made listening bearable even if the story is hard to follow. I don't recommend this book & won't be listening to this narrator again or reading from this author.

Gut-wrenching

Listening to this was gut wrenching. I was deeply angered by this man's persistence in getting what he wanted despite how it impacted his wife. I was even more astounded by the woman's determination in working on their marriage. I couldn't decide whether I was sympathetic for, disappointed in, or angry at her. The desperation she exuded was palpable.

Mouth Too Wet

You can clearly hear EVERY SINGLE TIME this narrator swallows. It sounds disgusting. I'm not sure if the mic is too sensitive or if the narrator has a really hard time swallowing, but I could barely make it through the book. Pause *swallow* Pause *swallow* Pause *swallow*

Very mediocre, kind of annoying

The book would have been better with 2 narrators. The valley girl voice grew very irritating. I struggled to fijnish this book. Also, the characters had no depth and I didn't feel like the main character was very likeable. Furthermore, the sex scenes in a story that centers around a special needs child was disturbing. I won't listen to anything by this narrator or author again.

Predictable and a little mean

This story was predictable. Nothing very special about it. One thing I did notice was the WY she describes women in this book. None of the descriptions seems to be nice. All except the main character are "pudgy", have "triple chins", etc. Problem with heavy people or problems. With her own weight, maybe?
