Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

It’s ok
Revisado: 01-25-23
I thought the first part was interesting; some insights into the palaces and Granny and Royal life in general but when he started gushing about Meghan he lost me. I’m a rather sentimental American, and it was way too sappy for me and so I can only imagine how the Brits reacted. Keep it private.
I think the thing I liked the best was imagining King Charles, calling Harry “Darling Boy.”

Historia
This collection of essays observes the perils of motherhood, wifehood, selfhood, and other assorted challenges. Since its publication in 1957, it has sold millions of copies and has been adapted into a Broadway play, a film, a TV series, and now an audiobook. Jean Kerr's parodies of the clichéd 1950s prescription for glamorous or maternal feminine behavior still resonate today as we enter the 21st century.

I don’t know what I was expecting but not yes. Was this a movie? It sounded familiar but not what I expected.

Historia
Set during the time of the Napoleonic Wars, this classic gives a satirical picture of a worldly society. The novel revolves around the exploits of the impoverished but beautiful and devious Becky Sharp who craves wealth and a position in society. Calculating and determined to succeed, she charms, deceives and manipulates everyone she meets. A novel of early 19th-century English society, it takes its title from the place designated as the centre of human corruption in John Bunyan's 17th-century allegory.

Wonderful Story!

I can’t think why I had not read this book before now. I think I remember starting it in the print version and not getting past the first chapter or two . Listening to it is a gift. It’s a long book and it took several weeks of of intermittent listening but well worth it!

Historia
David Harper is an orphan, seemingly doomed to loneliness and poverty. As an adolescent con artist and petty thief, David spends his days grifting at an amusement park, the place where he first learns about women and the mysteries of love. Soon he discovers that his longing to embrace the world is stronger than the harsh realities that constrain him. Featuring autobiographical touches from Michener's own life story, The Fires of Spring is more than a novel: it's a rich slice of American life, brimming with wisdom, longing, and compassion.

Great Book, Horrible Narration
Revisado: 06-09-18
I read The Fires of Spring many years ago and loved this story. I was looking forward to listening but am so annoyed with the narration. It is stilted, halting and passionless. Very disappointed.
