Historia
It’s been seven years since the end of the Naxid War. Sidelined for their unorthodox tactics by a rigid, tradition-bound military establishment, Captain Gareth Martinez and Captain Lady Sula are stewing in exile, frustrated and impatient to exercise the effective and lethal skills they were born to use in fighting the enemy. Yet after the ramshackle empire left by the Shaa conquerors is shaken by a series of hammer blows that threaten the foundations of the commonwealth, the result is a war no one planned, no one expected, and no one knows how to end.

The narrator sounds like AI
Revisado: 07-13-24
The narrator sounded like bad AI. Just need more words to fill this space to hit minimum.

Should have followed Battlemage. Seriously. I thought that series lost its way at book 2 & concluded ok with 3.
But in this book, we get all our favorite characters, and some new interesting ones. It’s great. Look forward to reading the next.

Sssssooo much ssssssssibilancccccceeee
Revisado: 10-15-17
The book is great but Micheal Kraemer, as usual, has an annoying amount of sibilance in his recordings, and I've listened to *many*. Someone needs to help him set up his audio equipment to mitigate against sibilance. Please.

Solid sequel
Revisado: 09-11-17
Would you consider the audio edition of An Echo of Things to Come to be better than the print version?
I enjoyed the sequel to what I thought was an amazing first book. Listening to the audiobook is sort of difficult to follow at times because of Caden's nonlinear storyline. It's an interesting narrative choice to have one of the main character's storyline be told through flashbacks. Then you get a slew of new characters, places, and names that are different than everything you've been hearing up to that point.
I also thought that there was a lot of sibilance in Kramer's reading which could be jarring at times.
