Historia
On holiday in Mykonos, Charlie wants only sunny days and a brief escape from England's bourgeois dreariness. Then a handsome stranger lures the aspiring actress away from her pals - but his intentions are far from romantic. Joseph is an Israeli intelligence officer, and Charlie has been wooed to flush out the leader of a Palestinian terrorist group responsible for a string of deadly bombings. Still uncertain of her own allegiances, she debuts in the role of a lifetime as a double agent in the "theatre of the real".

Brilliant

Le Carre is always a writer of genius. Michael Jayston is an ideal narrator, capturing the radical ambiguity of the story.

Historia
The man he knew as "Control" is dead, and the young Turks who forced him out now run the Circus. But George Smiley isn't quite ready for retirement-especially when a pretty, would-be defector surfaces with a shocking accusation: a Soviet mole has penetrated the highest level of British Intelligence. Relying only on his wits and a small, loyal cadre, Smiley recognizes the hand of Karla - his Moscow Centre nemesis - and sets a trap to catch the traitor.

;More than a thriller, great literature
Revisado: 03-17-23
This is one of the great books of the 20th Century. Pitch-perfect, Le Carre captures every nuance of British disillusionment and betrayal. Every sentence is a gem, and in his expert reading Jayston conveys it all.

Historia
The American pianist Jonathan Biss is known to audiences throughout the world for his artistry, musical intelligence and deeply felt interpretations. What is less known until now is that Jonathan Biss writes about music in a most compelling and engaging way. For anyone who has ever enjoyed a Beethoven concert or a Beethoven recording or one of the many films about Beethoven, this audiobook is an inspiring listening experience. For those of you who have heard Beethoven in concert or listened to a Beethoven recording, Jonathan Biss takes you behind the scenes of those performances.

Without the music itself this makes no sense as an audiobook

Of greatest value to performers
Revisado: 08-05-20
As a lover of Beethoven, I found Biss's own obvious devotion to Beethoven to be moving. Professional musicians will find it most useful, since he is discussing the choices of a performer rather than simply analyzing Beethoven's music. It leaves me with a very high opinion of the sincerity and devotion of Jonathan Biss to Beethoven, and I will look for his CDs of the Beethoven cycle.

Historia
"Je hais les voyages et les explorateurs", toute première phrase de l'ouvrage, affirme sans détour son rejet de l'exotisme comme porte vers le sensationnel. Il s'agit ici d'un voyage bien plus philosophique, retour sur les études de terrain qui ont formé son esprit d'ethnologue. Comment se positionner face à l'autre, face à des cultures aux structures si différentes ? Quelles sont les valeurs intrinsèques de l'Homme ?
