Not my cup of tea. I felt I should try this genre as it's a subgenre of my favorite: urban fantasy. It really was off key for me in every way. While I admire the authors effort and can see the notes it aimed for and hit those are not at all the elements I enjoy in urban fantasy or what I read for. I did not enjoy or like the main character at the beginning or at the end. And yet she was not unlikable in a satisfying way either. She isn't a character I'd love to hate which can be satisfying. She does have personal growth over the arc of the story. I may look for a different title by this author to see where her writing goes. It felt aimed for and successful yet not successful at something that rings my bell personally. If you love edge of urban fantasy lifestyle stories this may be your cup of tea. I'll try some other books in the subgenre with a reference to laugh out loud in the blurb, maybe comedic elements would make this subgenre a better fit for me. For this particular title if you like Christine Feehan you may really like this as well. As with Feehan the reader needs to supply emotional elements that are categorized on the page, told but not shown. Relationships are stated and decided upon in this piece. I did not take a journey with the character I watched her take a journey.

A novel to help tide you over until the next delicious novel. I really enjoy these. Horror is not for everyone but if it’s your cup of tea may you enjoy this quick sip. Fun in the same vein as Sucker Punch.

Snazzy!

I enjoyed this read. Kit is a complex character discovering a multilayered world. We tag along with him on an adventure that doubles back on themes first presented in other novels and yet they are shown in completely new light here. The characters are interesting but the world itself becomes a better realized character as fans read this book.

Urban Fantasy Fun!

Dangers, underdog heroics, solving mysterys! Some procedural. Thoser who love Annette Maries crow and Hammer Teams will not be disappointed by their cross over appearance here. But this book can be read as a stand alone.

Mild horror

The narrator does a great job. Its a fun urban fantasy with an early twenties cast. The author doesn't skimp on having a wide variety of dangerous characters. She does a good job of fleshing out the world and cast without leaving the main characters pov. A fun, dramatic urban fantasy. Lots of magic action. Risks and dangers. No porn.

It wasn’t how to at all. She exudes gratitude and joy. There is no how too at all. It should be labeled only as memoir.
