I liked this! There was solid world building skill and the book moved fast. I will keep my eye on this
author.

Grady Hendrix is the best

I’ve loved his books so much that I’m starting to dread the day I listen to or read one of his and it’s lame - it always seems to happen to my favorite authors, but not so far. This one may be my favorite, and I think that about every one of his books.
The perfect mix of horror and hilarity- How to Sell a Haunted House kept me up late finishing it. Thanks again Grady!

But I can’t complain about anything directly. I just didn’t get hooked and didn’t care about the characters. It was very well
written though and the narration is wonderful, just not my genre.

I tried to enjoy this but I was so bored I couldn’t pay attention and I didn’t even finish. Characters - meh. Story - meh. Not even remarkable enough to dislike.

Predictable

This was romantic, unrealistic, predictable… and I still loved it enough to listen to it in a couple days. Not my style of book but a guilty pleasure ❤️

I have a guilty pleasure for dark, shocking stories and I suppose this is several of them - but it wasn’t dark and shocking it was pathetic and attention seeking. It is like the insecure person who uses big words to impress people except they use those words just slightly wrong. I listened to this because some of my favorite new authors recommended it and though I’m disappointed - I won’t hold it against them.
Anyway I don’t recommend. It’s like a snuff film except written by 13 year olds.

Carrie for the middle aged woman

This is what I read for – finding an author that seems to know exactly how to speak to me. Mary is a middle aged, peri menopausal woman with an ordinary everything – ordinary looks, job, life. The voices in her head are so like the voices we all hear from time to time, but her voices become far less ordinary as time goes on.
I love the narrator, she was the perfect choice for this story.
I loved this book. It was told in first person present time all from the protagonist’s point of view. Every time I thought I had figured out what was happening the story would turn and leave me guessing. I was surprised at the end to discover the author was a man because he seemed to understand what happens to most of us when we spiral into self-doubt and anxiety. I will follow him for more work, this is truly a gem – probably my favorite this year!

So annoying

I am not sure who was more annoying in this book, the hero, the heroin or the loser she left at home. This last decade has really adjusted my expectations of this genre to not be very high, but even with that I'm still disappointed. It is a good value, that many hours for one credit and it has a cool dog, I just wish I could have liked it better because it had potential.

None of this is applicable to the average person in the United States. I don’t have an Audi. I don’t have a Rolls-Royce. I’ve never lived in Dubai. I don’t have a vintage Saab. And I certainly am not an engineer with Microsoft or Google.
The extremely wealthy always can “solve for happiness”! Give me a break…

Number one many of these “rock ‘n’ roll heavy metal bands tied to Satanism is ridiculous rush is not a heavy metal band and some of the ties are a bit Of a stretch
