Historia
From international bestselling author Dick Francis and his son Felix comes a gripping new racing thriller. Captain Thomas Forsyth’s tour of Afghanistan is cut brutally short when he’s badly wounded by a roadside bomb. Tom’s world is torn apart by the injury - the Army is his life. Six months of recuperation leave is a daunting prospect - but not as bleak as the probability of never rejoining his regiment. Tom returns to Lambourn, to his childhood home, where his mother is a racehorse trainer and the ‘First Lady’ of racing.

one of my new favorites!

definitely being added to my repeat listening list! Jarvis is easy to listen to even while conveying the intensity of the most high impact scenes.

Historia
In Magic's Pawn, an ancient age in the history of Valdemar comes to life - an age when the kingdom was ravaged by the ungoverned fury of bandit warlords, ferocious ice dragons, and the wild magic of wizards. A new addition to Lackey's Valdemar kingdom - and her most powerful series to date!

It urts me to rate this book so low overall
Revisado: 07-16-18
I've love this particular trilogy of Valdemar stories since I was a teen and was honestly deeply disappointed with the performance here. the reader mad alot of mistakes and tongue slips re gender, pronouns, pronunciation changes, starting a line as the wrong character voice, the delivery and pacing of scene and character shifts often rushed and, it never felt like he was delivering character's lines with the right inflection or emotional tone.
The end result of this was it often felt like this was a rushed first read-through the with no care given to cleaning it up, just get it read with the shortest finished run time possible and decent audio quality and call it done.
in short it saddens me to know that I'm going to have to listen to this slap dash reading every time I want to relive Vanyel's story and don't have the time to sit and read the whole book myself

Historia
It’s the classic law of the invader. Get to the strongest guy and smash him, then watch the weaker ones fall like ninepins. Which is just what a vicious gang of horse dealers decides to do when their little kickback scam is threatened with a spot of old-fashioned honesty. But they haven’t reckoned with bloodstock agent Jonah Dereham, a man who belies his quiet exterior with a steely and implacable resolve. They can threaten him, try to burn down his home, even attempt to kill him. But they’ll soon wish they hadn’t.

Very good... but I had to slow it down
Revisado: 08-07-17
Had to play this one at 0.85 speed cause it felt horribly rushed at the standard speed. Like the narrator was trying to cut the length by talking faster.
That said, one I found a speed that didn't distort the performance it was a lovely listen.

I'm probably biased...
Revisado: 08-06-17
I went to sleep listening to an abridged version of this on tape through most of my youth and I couldn't help but compare the readers preformances... and found this one inferior at most points, which erked me, and the recording quality subpar when compared to the listening quality of my other audible titles. that said, it was the better option between the two recodings available and I still love the story hugely, more than enough to overlook these little nusesnse and revel in learning the knew details I'd never gotten on the old abridged tapes.

A bit too husky
Revisado: 06-13-17
Nit sure why but Holter's performance this time irritated me. To much husk, not enough attention paid to the pacing and phrasing of the writing. Which is a pity, as this is my favourite of the alpha omega books to date and I've thoroughly enjoyed his performances in the others.

mind voices proved tricky
Revisado: 01-27-17
I love the series and ways have. my only complaint here was that the narrator felt the need to... over act the mind voices of the characters that spoke exclusively in mind speech. yes they are Animals but they are talking in thought, not physically with the limitations. of voiceboxes in animal throats, and the result made Thier dialogue a bit hard to listen to
