This is one of my favorite books of all time. It’s one I read or listen to over and over again. This is my first time listening to this version and it was phenomenal. Kenneth Branagh is amazing at anything he does and this was no exception

Fun, educational, and spooky at times
Revisado: 09-14-22
This book was a short overview of some of the main themes and origins of Halloween. It was fun to hear how the traditions have changed throughout the years, and where some of our current customs come from. Things have changed a lot even in the 100 years since the book was written. It was the perfect book to start the season and get me in the mood for planning a Halloween party!

Fun story
Revisado: 08-26-20
It was a fun story! I enjoyed the alien world aspect and the whole seeing colors and the nods to myths we know as a way to explain the alien history. It was fun to envision magic and things we normally associate with fae in an alien perspective.
I did find Caeden to a bit presumptuous and just wanted him to back off at times haha and was glad Ryanne finally found her strength. The narration did make it a bit hard to follow as there wasn't much variation in characters tones but eventually was able to follow well enough. Overall, I enjoyed the story and the world Charity created.
***
No explicit language! Yay!
A few kisses and references to sexual desire but nothing explicit. It does get a bit intense with Ryanne's abduction and references to her rape and beating. One minor character is assumed to have gotten pregnant in high school.
Violence is minimal.
References to being drugged (though it was only magic and the affects of portal travel) and a few scenes involving alcohol.

Enjoyable and fun characters
Revisado: 08-18-20
It was a fun book, very character driven. It’s a bit of a slow start story wise but the characters are well written and engaging so it was still intriguing enough to keep listening. Narration was good, not the clearest of audio but could’ve been compression from audible, but I enjoyed the performance. Interested enough to listen to book 2.

Historia
Verity Montague is a servant in 1692 Salem. Her flaming red hair and mismatched eyes make her a prime target for accusation of witchcraft. Orphaned during the Indian raids, she and her brother with Asperger's Syndrome come to live with the key historical figures of the trials-The Putnams. They keep their synesthesia secret - that days, months and years appear as color in Verity's mind, and for John, that symphonies play in a Fantasia-style performance of colors and geometric patterns.

Sweet read
Revisado: 07-17-20
Thought it was a very sweet story though it did take me a while to get into it but by the end, I found it charming and endearing.
Impressed by the narrator and the consistent different accents, well done.

Guilty pleasure
Revisado: 03-30-20
This series turned into a guilty pleasure for me! I don't love things like the bachelor but the way this is written is such a fun take on that idea and so sweet and endearing and cute. This is a book I gush over if someone talks about it because it's so cute and makes you feel lovey feelings. Amy Rubinate is also a fantastic narrator. She totally captures America's character and keeps you interested and just has a great voice overall. Such a fun, cute and sweet book / series and performance!

Love it
Revisado: 03-30-20
This is such a fun story and start to the series! What a fun take on a classic! It gets a bit slow and wordy at times but overall it's great pacing and very fun. Rebecca Soler is charming and these are the books I became a fan of hers and I'm so glad because she is great, she really captured the individual characters and kept the story engaging even through the wordy times. Loved her voices for the characters. Great story and performance!

Historia
When Silla and Nori arrive at their aunt's home, it's immediately clear that the "blood manor" is cursed. The creaking of the house and the stillness of the woods surrounding them would be enough of a sign, but there are secrets, too - the questions that Silla can't ignore: Who is the beautiful boy who's appeared from the woods? Who is the man her little sister sees, but no one else? And why does it seem that ever since they arrived, the trees have been creeping closer?

Just amazing!!
Revisado: 03-30-20
This is the best audiobook I have ever listened to! I was in awe, creeped out and totally enthralled by the reading and direction. The writing itself was fantastic but the narration tipped this over the edge into phenomenal! The whispering the background was soo eerie, I loved it! There were times I had to stop listening because I was getting to creeped out home alone. It was very engaging and the story was thrilling. The end was a bit of a let down with how much I was into it but the ride was still amazing and totally worth it.

Very sweet story
Revisado: 03-30-20
It took a while to get into as the writing was a pretty slow pace to start off but it did start to pick up and it turned into the sweetest story! I really enjoyed it and really cared about the characters. It is a very sweet story of strength, family bonds, love, humility and pride. it was fun to listen to a story set in the days of Moses, to hear things you are familiar with but from Mahlah's point of view. The narrator was also fantastic. Her sweet, calm voice was a perfect choice to tell Mahlah's story. She kept the story going and did a such a great job pronouncing some of the Hebrew words that are not used in modern day and just added a great atmosphere for the story.
*I received a free copy of the audiobook but my words and opinions are my own.
