Historia
Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café. It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.

A story as sweet as a piece of pie
Revisado: 05-16-24
A sweet, quiet story of love and self-discovery in a small southern town. Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe is just the right salve to heal and escape the realities of 2024. It will help you remember to see and prioritize all that is good in one another. This is my first time reading this author and I feel lucky to have found her just when I needed her. Ironically, I often listened in the middle of the night when I woke from fitful dreams - I came to crave the story just like the characters crave their blackbird pie. While I only gave the story four stars because the arc is slightly predictable, I was still captivated by the characters and willing to believe in the magical realism of the blackbirds and all they had to offer. Beautifully performed by the actors.

Historia
The Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times Critic's Pick that served Broadway "raucous comedy and nonstop pleasure" has made its way home to Audible. Juicy is a queer, Southern college kid already grappling with some serious questions of identity when the ghost of his father shows up in their backyard, demanding that Juicy avenge his murder. But here’s the rub! Revenge doesn’t come easy to Juicy, a sensitive and self-aware young Black man in search of his own happiness and liberation.

Clever modern interpretation
Revisado: 01-27-24
The playwright captures the spirit of the Shakespearean original but places it in a present day sassy, funny and introspective world. Entertaining and thoughtful.

I look forward to falling asleep with Teddy. I have yet to hear an entire podcast and I think that is the best compliment I can offer. I am especially grateful on nights when I wake in the middle of the night with worry or a racing mind. I no longer fret about not get the sleep I need. Thank you, Teddy, for carefully curating your offerings and for helping us calmly drift to sleep.
