Historia
Raised in the wilderness by her late great-uncle, Vida is a young woman with an almost preternatural affinity for nature, especially for the wolves that also call the forested mountains home. Formed by hard experience, by love and loss, and by the prophecies of a fortuneteller, Vida just wants peace. If only nearby Kettleton County didn’t cast such a dark shadow.

Except to much lecturing about this or that from issue to issue all around the plot. I really didn’t need to be lectured.

Same story
Revisado: 06-07-24
First the writing in this book is like easy listening elevator music. He might want to be Steven King but it ain’t happening
The first book there’s a lot of bad ghosts, LOTs. Second book, different house, same story, haunted house with a LOT of bad ghosts. Third novel, same plot but set in an asylum bared of a house.
The haunting are terribly cliche. Sam old things. Creaking doors opening, poltergeist behavior. Just the story we’v all seen a thousand times. I returned this book without moving on to the remaining three repeats of the same plot.

Historia
In the latest installment of The Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice summons up dazzling worlds to bring us the story of Armand—eternally young, with the face of a Botticelli angel. We go with Armand across the centuries to the Kiev Rus of his boyhood - a ruined city under Mongol dominion—and to ancient Constantinople, where Tartar raiders sell him into slavery. And in a magnificent palazzo in the Venice of the Renaissance we see him emotionally and intellectually in thrall to the great vampire Marius.

Anne’s thinking about Jesus
Revisado: 04-11-24
Seriously this whole book sounds like Anne is struggling with Catholicism and that’s the plot which she slices with some sex, homosexual sex. I mean some stuff happens but I was hoping for some Lestat/Louis tension. But seriously Anne, get a therapist talk to your local priest but this is just the same old same old, only preachier.

A boring retelling
Revisado: 04-08-24
This is Anne’s version of human history from an angel’s point of view. Sound interesting, it’s enormously boring. It’s ridiculously preachy. Like we get it Anne can something actually happen to the characters please.

Well this book was boring. Nothing to exciting happens and there are lengthy descriptions of the locations that go on and on. Not my favorite of Rice’s books.

Historia
Rowan's attempt to escape Lasher and his pursuit of her and their child are at the heart of this extraordinary saga. It is a novel that moves around the globe, backward and forward through time, and between the human and demonic worlds. Its many voices - of women, of men, of demons and angels, present and past - haunt and enchant us. With a dreamlike power, the novel draws us through twilight paths, telling a chillingly hypnotic story of occult and spiritual aspirations and passion.
