Historia
Detective Dave Robicheaux’s world isn’t filled with too many happy stories, but Desmond Cormier’s rags-to-riches tale is certainly one of them. Robicheaux first met Cormier on the streets of New Orleans, when the young, undersized boy had foolish dreams of becoming a Hollywood director. Twenty-five years later, when Robicheaux knocks on Cormier’s door, it's to ask about a young woman he found who’s been crucified. She disappeared near Cormier’s Cyrpemort Point estate, and Robicheaux, along with young Deputy Sean McClain, are looking for answers.

What a grand ole tale!
Revisado: 05-14-24
Will Patton pairs perfectly with James Lee Burke's equisite phrasing, characters and plot. What a well written tale. I am from New Iberia but have been away for a long time and it was such a treat hearing all those old familar places. Thank you all!

Historia
Hollywood has sent its emissaries to New Iberia Parish to film a Civil War epic in the steaming mists of the Louisiana bayou, reawakening the ghosts of a past best left undisturbed. The restless specters wait in the shadows for Cajun cop Dave Robicheaux as he hunts a serial butcher who is preying on the less-than-innocent young. For these spirits are the guardians of Robicheaux's darkest torments, and they hold the key to ultimate salvation - or a final, fatal downfall.

Fantastic story AND perfect performance
Revisado: 03-04-21
This story brings the reader inside the mind of a boy with many challenges and what its like to be bullied. The hero is brave and compassionate towards those not so nice to him. This story sits on my top shelf.

Fantastic story!
Revisado: 01-03-21
SE Grove is a wordsmith who offers both a gripping plot as well as so many deep ideas to ponder and sentences constructed so masterfully. The ideas upon which this story are crafted are fascinating and often got me reflecting on the parallels of our own modern times. This author and series has made it to my top shelf!

Historia
Boston, 1891. Sophia Tims comes from a family of explorers and cartologers who, for generations, have been traveling and mapping the New World - a world changed by the Great Disruption of 1799, when all the continents were flung into different time periods. Eight years ago, her parents left her with her uncle Shadrack, the foremost cartologer in Boston, and went on an urgent mission. They never returned. Life with her brilliant, absent-minded, adored uncle has taught Sophia to take care of herself.
