A very mild paced, low-drama, sweet and slow-burn love story. Definitely a feel-good read! Great narration as well. Enjoy!

It was a good story and it had a great ending, but I have to say that Ava is above and beyond my least liked FMC by RK and there are a few who get on my nerves. Ava is a horrible character. Her mental problems aren’t even the issue. She’s just dumb and self-absorbed 24/7.

I really wish these romance authors would learn to make likable FMCs.

One author I really enjoy for having good FMCs is Amelia Hutchins. They are strong yet feminine, and likable on the whole.

The story and point of view was all over the place. The relationship and spice between Link and Lily was lacking, too. It seemed like the author was so focused on the overarching series plotline that she spent most of this book setting up for other books. It really gave me the impression that Link and Lily’s story was sold short.

The book itself wasn’t bad, but it was messy. It could’ve been done a lot better if it was more focused and went deeper into Link and Lily themselves.

I would rate the story itself higher. I like the overall premise. I love Rock. In the first book, I even liked Hope for the most part. In this second book, however, I think she just steadily becomes more and more unlikeable. She is mentally and emotionally unstable all while being extremely self-righteous. The author wants to play her up as being so good and sweet, but that’s not how she acts with Rock. If I were Rock, I would have dumped her and moved on. I had high hopes thinking she’d finally grown as a character by the end of book 2, but she stirs up her petty bs in the very beginning of book 3. I immediately stopped listening and was happy it was free for the time being. No money or credit wasted, just time. I don’t know if I have the patience to go back and finish it.

Authors who pull this crap with a crazy FMC are either just as bad themselves (and need professional help) or they need to learn how to write better plots. External drama is far less emotionally draining for the reader, but can be just as exciting.

I really enjoyed most of the story. The plot was interesting and engaging. The characters were also intriguing. I have zero complaints about the narration. BUT there are two things that I think took away from a solid five star rating. This first issue may just be more subjective opinion, but when you are dragged into hardcore S&M punishments without any prior history in the lifestyle, by a enemy-stranger, no less, it just seems eye-rollingly unrealistic that you’d immediately turn hot and wet from it and not flat out feeling truly outraged and abused. Don’t get me wrong, I like and read plenty of S&M romances, but I just think there are better, more realistic ways to present it in stories. If it had been me, I would’ve held a huge grudge, sought vengeance of some kind, at least making him pay in some way for his heavy hand.

The other problem was the abrupt ending. It was jarring how abrupt it was! Very unsatisfying after all that drama.

It’s a light, easy read with interesting, likable characters and low, mostly external, drama. Not really a dark romance other than it being mafia themed. The spice was good, but not particularly adventurous or kinky. I’d say it’s a great story to read when you need a break from dark or emotional rollercoaster reads.

Roman and Emily’s story kicks off the Melnikov Bratva series with a bang. The romance, spice, and chemistry were on point and the overarching trafficking plotline provided added depth, drama, and action.

…was another fantastic SG romance and a riveting continuation to the Melnikov Bratva series. It also serves as a great lead-up to Alina & Matvey’s much anticipated and climactic release (pun intended 😉) on Audible.

I don’t cry easily, but I cried with this. Very good romance story. Zeus and Lou develop an unconventional (age-gap) yet sweet love relationship that spans her childhood into her later teens (nothing sexual happens till she’s 17). Worth a listen. This is my favorite of the series, though the others are good too.

Maybe I’m too mature & practical, but Gianna annoyed me since book 1 and really annoyed me in this book—especially in the last quarter. Her stubborn b*tch attitude should have been resolved long before the last 2 chapters. She should have given up her ideas of running away by the time she was caught and got off easy due to Matteo being protective and possessive enough to not let her family punish her by forcing her into being a whore. Her not being able to deal with her pride and emotions didn’t make me think of her as strong, but rather weak and entirely self-absorbed. Personally, I think Matteo could’ve done way better with someone else. Btw, he and Aria were pretty much the only likable characters in this book. Luca was outright obnoxious to Gianna. Sure, she wasn’t a prize, but his overprotecting Matteo was over the top and intrusive.

So yeah, they get a HEA, but I found their story more trouble than it was worth. Even the love/sex scenes weren’t anything special because Gianna was babbling to herself how her body loves him but she couldn’t or wouldn’t. *Eye-roll*

I will read the next book. The series isn’t bad, but this book and Gianna as a character, I consider both duds.
