The book kept trying to make points about what we would call feminism now but it was undercut by how often Lord Ryecliff was initially always grabbing Suzanne without her consent or a by your leave. You don’t just kiss a complete stranger or just start manhandling later an acquaintance because you “can’t help it because they are so attractive.” Made it hard to like Lord R after how he behaved before he even knew her. You can’t on the one hand be all for rights for women and then deny your main female character the autonomy to give consent.

Narration is not very good. Grating narrator with a flat affect. The book is also more sexist than usual for this genre. Along with the ridiculous assertion that only blondehair and blue eyes are attractive and brown hair and brown eyes are plain that is continually stated again and again is beyond obnoxious. All of the characters are varying degrees of unpleasant as well. What a waste.

Bizarre racially charged terms

Fairly bland rendering. What made this book most annoying was that for some odd reason this author chooses to use the outdated and now racially charged term “Negro” each time she refers to Black people. She is not quoting people of the day or books, articles, etc she just uses the term as though it is a standard accepted term. She is far too young to have the excuse that it was the term she grew up with either. Do not recommend.

The content is fine but it was a huge mistake having the author narrate. He almost sounds like a computer. Probably better to read it instead.

If you could sum up Doctor Who: The Roundheads in three words, what would they be?

Interesting and authentic

What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who: The Roundheads?

The Doctor being confronted with his book by Cromwell's son.

Which scene was your favorite?

Jamie and the Doctor at the ice market

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Anneke Wills was excellent. I kept thinking it was a different person reading dialogue, but it was all her.

It’s like a computer is reading. Did you make it sound awful on purpose to keep people from listening and learning about this topic? Worst narration EVER!
