My journey ends here, half way through.

9 hours left and I couldn’t care less what happens to the main character. None of her team seem like professionals. More than that, all of characters are caricatures of someone better. The main character is just stupid. I’m a completionist and tried to hold out but I can’t. It’s like some bad ‘50s cartoon, down to the narrator who I honestly expected to say “merm see” like an old style Chicago gangster caricature. I read the reviews for the second book thinking I’d just power through and and make it to the next one and got the bad news; it doesn’t get better. It is a shame that such a great premise and setting were ruined by poor storytelling and narration.

Historia
The world’s food supply grows aggressively, occupying every inch of earth, no matter how inhospitable. World hunger is averted. Humanity flourishes. RC-714 is digested, absorbed…and passed on. The Change affects small fast-breeding mammals first. They multiply with the same aggressive speed as the ExoGen plants, but an insatiable hunger drives them to violence. A war between species breaks out. When RC-714 reaches humanity, along with every other large creature on the planet, civilization implodes.

Great Listen
Revisado: 05-27-24
Great premise for a post apocalyptic story and the author delivered on that premise wonderfully. Even when I disagreed with what the characters did it didn’t take me out of the narrative going on. The author has yet to disappoint me. The narrator brought the words to life and made me feel the characters were credible and real. I’m left wishing for more but there are other stories and I can’t wait to hear them.

Historia
After decades of warfare, Malazan forces are poised to consolidate the Quon Tali mainland. Yet it is at this moment that Emperor Kellanved orders a new, some believe foolhardy campaign: the invasion of Falar that lies far to the north . . . And to fight on this new front, a rag-tag army raised from orphaned units and broken squads is been brought together under Fist Dujek, and joined by a similarly motley fleet under the command of the Emperor himself.

A great continuation of a great series.

While less warfare then the chronicles the adventures of characters you’ll recognize from them is a very welcome addition to the overall story. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Historia
For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days - even hours - of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going.

Informative and well presented.
Revisado: 02-22-23
Unlike some people, I am glad the author read this. Having heard the author speak it would have been disconcerting to hear someone else speak his words. Though I don’t know if I agree with his conclusions presented they are at least supported and well presented. I’m going to listen to this again and then see if I can find someone with differing opinions and sus out what I should believe. At the very least I’m already planning to shift some of my investments.

Another in an excellent series!
Revisado: 05-12-22
Urban fantasy better than I thought it could be. It is comparable to all of the best out there but with that something extra. I don’t know if it’s the more believable personalities of the characters or the more adult tone but, this series has been well worth the investment of time and I can hardly wait for the next installment.

Historia
For thousands of years, the Chiss Ascendancy has been an island of calm, a center of power, and a beacon of integrity. It is led by the Nine Ruling Families, whose leadership stands as a bulwark of stability against the Chaos of the Unknown Regions. But that stability has been eroded by a cunning foe who winnows away trust and loyalty in equal measure. Bonds of fidelity have given way to lines of division among the families. Despite the efforts of the Expansionary Defense Fleet, the Ascendancy slips closer and closer to civil war.

An excellent conclusion to the trilogy.
Revisado: 11-27-21
My only complaint is that the narrator do so well at making one of the alien’s voice so unpleasant. I actually had to stop briefly at multiple points because it was so hard to listen to. This was not enough to put a stop to my binge and finishing to story in just a few days.
