“I can give you all the pieces you need to heal yourself, and I swear I’m trying to. But in the end, you’re the one who has to put yourself back together. That’s just something I can’t do for you. I don’t have that kind of power, no matter how much I wish I did.”

This book was just everything for me. Grief is different for everyone but for me it resonated so much because grieving is messy, is passing through different stages at the same time, going backwards to eventually be able to go forward, and smiling and feeling guilty for it and everything between and more.
Cannon and Easton are stepbrothers who became estranged because of an event in their late teen years that led to Cannon leaving their home for several years. Cannon’s dad and Easton’s mum have a serious accident and because they name Cannon their health representative, he is forced to come back to their hometown. Easton is pissed to say the least. He loved Cannon and although their relationship was a bit tumultuous before, he resented Cannon for leaving and didn’t understand why was he chosen for this role instead of Easton. Because of this event, they are forced to live together again. Their journey through grief, loss, their new relationship is one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever read. I love CE Ricci and her writing, but this is my favourite. Easton could not be more different from Cannon but how they became each other’s anchor through all their ordeals is something beautiful to read. They are also one hot, hot couple. Like oh my God. The audio version only enhanced everything. It was just perfect.

“I’m not going to make you remember me, Mia. I’m going to make it where you can’t remember anything else.”

“You think any of these will scar?” “Probably,” he exhaled in concentration. “But it’s up to you on how deep you let the scars in.”

This absolute gem of a book shows a different side of the characters and how their relationship evolves after some major things happened.
The voices are, like the first audiobook, absolute perfection. You can almost feel Ollie and Mia’s love, pain and everything they feel.

This story is poetic in its own way. The girl who feels nothing and the boy who feels too much develop a relationship that evolves from a kind of friendship to a love so fierce that can conquer anything. The voices are an absolute fit for the characters and I AM IN LOVE.
