Historia
Elsa is seven years old and different. Her grandmother is 77 years old and crazy, standing-on-the-balcony-firing-paintball-guns-at-men-who-want-to-talk-about-Jesus crazy. She is also Elsa's best and only friend. At night Elsa takes refuge in her grandmother's stories, in the Land of Almost-Awake and the Kingdom of Miamas, where everybody is different and nobody needs to be normal.

A wonderful performance!

Very different from Ove but I LOVED this book just as much. I heard some friends say they had a hard time getting into it, they read it rather than heard it via Audible. I really think hearing it helped. The story has fairytale stories woven in and hearing the different voices really helps to tell things apart. A wonderful book about humanness and life.

Historia
Josie and her children's father have split up, she's been sued by a former patient and lost her dental practice, and she's grieving the death of a young man senselessly killed. When her ex asks to take the children to meet his new fiancée's family, Josie makes a run for it, figuring Alaska is about as far as she can get without a passport. Josie and her kids, Paul and Ana, rent a rattling old RV named the Chateau, and at first their trip feels like a vacation.

Frustrating
Revisado: 10-13-16
I just didn't find much in common with the main character. She is having some sort of major existential crisis, uproots her life and children, and then goes to Alaska despite being horrifyingly unprepared. Again and again she puts herself and her children in completely unnecessarily dangerous situations. I found her whole expedition to be selfish, unthinking and ill advised. It made it difficult to relate to her
