Historia
In this harrowing story based on authentic historical documents, we follow the career of Dr. Silas Weir, “Father of Gyno-Psychiatry,” as he ascends from professional anonymity to national renown. Humiliated by a procedure gone terribly wrong, Weir is forced to take a position at the New Jersey Asylum for Female Lunatics, where he reigns. There, he is allowed to continue his practice, unchecked for decades, making a name for himself by focusing on women who have been neglected by the state—women he subjects to the most grotesque modes of experimentation.

Great story and relevant historical fiction
Revisado: 07-17-24
Very engaging. Gruesome but good to hear a point of view not represented in normal history telling

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Author draws misguided conclusions
Revisado: 04-28-21
The author is good at explaining the time sequence of evolution. However he reaches to modern human behavior to draw conclusions about morality which are very misguided. He presents himself as seeing his reasoning through science, but unfortunately he fails to comprehend the history and society. This leads to blatantly incorrect statements about the material at hand.
