Nice story, no porn.

Picking up where we left off, Daniel is now a teenager, dealing with all the usual stuff as well as Daddy Issues. Big. Honking. Daddy Issues. Foster dad Richard continues to be as annoying and trollish as possible, up to and including stealing Daniel’s Christmas present to his foster mom (Marie), and pretending that it came from him (Richard). Daniel and Marie are bonding as mother and son, but with nothing inappropriate other than a teenager’s fantasies (and even there he could use some help, has he never seen Playboy or anything?). Anyway, just another coming-of-age story and no porn. My rating: 8/10.

If you're looking for down-and-dirty mom/son porn, this isn't it. Basically it's a very sweet and gentle story of a foster kid looking for love, and a foster mom who gives it, but not in a sexual way. The kid accidentally orgasms in his pants near the end, but he doesn't really understand what happened. It's a good story, but not porn. Overall: 7/10.

Dumbest. Characters. Ever.

Simply put, the mothers in these stories appear to be incredibly stupid. In the first one, Mom has to “help” her son to orgasm because some doctor (obviously a quack) said it would be dangerous if he got “backed up”. What, he can’t spank it like a normal person?

In the second one…how old is that kid? Seems to be well under 18. Straight up child molestation? Oddly enough, he comes across as a creeper; like he was manipulating her the whole time. Very disturbing.

And in the last one, it’s “perfectly natural” to bang your son, and her husband will totally understand why she had to take the initiative. Somehow I doubt it. *facepalm*

Overall, the narrators did their best, but the dumb characters ruined the story. Save your money, people, and give this one a pass. 2/10.

Very disappointed

What should have been an enjoyable thriller was ruined by the narrator. Basically, he bored me to tears, and I found myself skipping over the parts where the terrorists are developing and carrying out their plans, just so I wouldn't fall asleep. The parts with Grace and her roommate were better, and the voices were decent, but that's about it. I do not recommend this audiobook, unless you need something to help you fall asleep at night. Overall: 5 out of 10.

Good sub story, bad narrator

This is one of my favorite books about submarines, but it's not up there with "The Hunt for Red October". This is because of two really stupid things that happen to set up the plot. Namely, the USS Tampa was in much too close to shore for a Los Angeles-class attack sub. No way an attack boat should be in such shallow water; this would be a job for SEALS in a minisub. Also, the periscope was up for far too long, allowing the Chinese to notice it and take action.

But I would be willing to overlook these details if the narrator hadn't been so boring. He hardly changes his voice at all from one character to the next, and doesn't provide much excitement, even at the most action-packed moments. Overall, this is a good book, with a few annoying details. Final score: 4/5 stars.

Performance needs work...a LOT of work.

I don't know what audience Teri Clark Linden was aiming for, but it sure as shooting wasn't me. Her slow, hesitant delivery is devoid of any personality or narrative flow. It's like she turned "Ladies of Mandrigyn" into "See Spot Run". She should go back and study the greats, like Barbara Rosenblat and C.J. Critt. Until then, she should stop wasting my time and money, pretending to be a real narrator. Sorry to be harsh, but I take my audiobooks seriously; so should she.

I know that this edition is technically “abridged”, but I don’t care; it’s just that good. The narrator is perfect, and the story just takes you away on an epic adventure. My rating: 10/10. 😎
