Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Fu$&ing Awful
Revisado: 11-26-24
This author uses the f word far too much. It was distracting. I could have accepted a foul mouthed main character. She was after all very young and raised in the environment of poverty and struggle. And I can handle books with a fairly heavy sprinkling of cussing. But every character? Every other word? It was f me, f that, f-ing awful, f-ing awesome. You mean to tell me that the fae, who have centuries of wisdom, would cuss like that? All of them? I think not. I struggled to finish the book because of it. And I will NOT read another of this authors books.
If you are not so offended by the use of the F-bomb every thirty seconds, the story line is interesting enough. The sex scenes are steamy and the characters are endearing enough. I however do not know why this book got all the hype. I’m planning on returning it. I have no interest in keeping it in my collection.

Authors forgot book 1 storyline!
Revisado: 05-29-22
The “Party Princess” who welcomed van and tirina into her family was not truly a party girl. It was explained in the first book they she was in a prearranged marriage. She loved her husband but her family only married her off to get access to profitable business deals. When her husband died she was heartbroken and gave up her claim on her husbands business interests. THIS is why her family killed and chipped her. Not because she was a Teen Partier. That was the rumor her family drummed up so they could do their evil deed! So why did the authors do this plot flip. Now a book I was enjoying is just ticking me off.

Author and narrator make lovely match.
Revisado: 08-27-21
I love Ray Porters narrations. Add Nick Jones unique storyline written in first person perspective with brilliant scene descriptions and you’ve got a hit.
I often listen to audiobooks as background noise while I’m doing mundane chores. At first, I did that with this book. But I so often found myself rewinding to hear scenic details, that I quickly decided to reserve this book for more focused listening. I would sit and almost meditate while listening.
Ray Porter always has been one of my favorite narrators. His use of inflection, his rhythmic presentation, his manipulation of timbre and tone really helps to set the particular mood for each scene. It’s as if he’s not reading from a book but singing it. It’s wonderful.
All in all, I would say this audiobook is (for lack of a better way to describe it) a calm suspense that captured my imagination.

I do. This is my first read by Egan. The story was intriguing and eventful. The characters were distinct and fully developed. The plot held many unexpected but wonderful twists and the reading was beautifully spoken. I am eager to delve into more of her work.

This series is great but...
Revisado: 03-29-20
I love this series. And the reader is perfect. He’s good at varying voices. He has an interesting tone and his voice lends a lot to the story line. But...
I’m very picky. And every time the author uses the word belied(as in her youthful appearance belied her true age), AUSTIN reads it as bellied(as in bellied up to the bar). It kills me. Bellied and belied are two completely different words. 😒
And when the author puts “sigh” on its own as text, AUSTIN should read it AS a sigh. 🤦♀️
About the story. I am intrigued by the way the author develops the main character’s personality using voice and free flow of thought. Justin’s thought patterns are random, off topic and silly at times. But that adds to the charm of the character. I love it. As a listener he is a character you can either love or hate. As I am ADHD, I love him. No editing needed.
The story line is quirky but engaging. It was a bit off putting at first to be faced with all the sexual content. But what did I expect? He is an incubus after all. And the story has plenty of twists and turns, heartfelt and funny scenes.
In all I love the series. And I can get over the readers issues. I’d highly recommend this author. 😁👌🏻

Great story with terrible narrator
Revisado: 08-18-17
The story was interesting from beginning to end with a psychological bent that left me with a sense of "what if". But the narrators alter egos were ridiculously overplayed, to the point of being comical. They all sounded the same too. U would think the narrator knew nothing about accent or tone variation. But the story was still worth listening to even with the unfavorable narration.

Can't wait for the next one!!!
Revisado: 06-28-17
This series is enthralling! I was very pleased with the storyline AND the narration. The readers voice is perfectly suited to the characters with variations for each character that makes them come to life! And the depth of the storyline captured my mind. I am a passive reader who usually has a book playing in the background. Therefore I often get the overall sense of the book more than the details of a book. But I don't recommend doing that with this book. The details MAKE this story. I listened all the way through, probably 5 times. And each time I found a part my mind missed in the last reading. When u pay close attention to the book u can SEE the characters. Their motions and attitudes are played out with every word. It's truly a beautiful writing. If u r into Sci-fi and action adventure and take the time to truly meditate on the words Elliot has written, u will love this book! I just can't wait for the next one!

Another hit in the odd Thomas series
Revisado: 12-21-16
I have read and enjoyed other Koontz books but nothing like the odd Thomas series. It's as if dean Koontz is channeling this young man rather than writing a fictional story. I laughed so hard at one point I had to stop the audio (and my car) until I could catch my breath. That is how amazing this book is.
I found the storyline fascinating, the descriptions are amazing, and the reader couldn't be more perfect. I have and will recommend this book and series to everyone. Love love me some Odd Thomas!
