Just ok
Revisado: 04-23-25
I thought these books were just ok time travel stories. Not bad, but not outstanding. I really enjoy time travel, so I finished them but I probably won't recommend them. One thing that was off putting was that there really was a lot of descriptions of breast size over and over. You will know the chest size of every female character and whether she's attractive. Also there are no fewer than three couples where the man is twelve years older than the woman. It reads like some dude's horny fantasy.

Historia
It’s March of 2019, and twenty-eight-year-old Jules Gold—anxious, artistically frustrated, and internet-obsessed—has been living alone in the apartment she once shared with the man she thought she’d marry when her younger sister Poppy comes to crash. Indefinitely. Poppy, a year and a half out from a suicide attempt only Jules knows about, searches for work and meaning in Brooklyn while Jules spends her days hate-scrolling the feeds of Mormon mommy bloggers and waiting for life to happen.

I Hated It
Revisado: 04-16-24
I hated every character in this book and regret the time I spent with them, except maybe the dog. There wasn't much plot. The way the sisters were supposed to be mirroring each other was heavy handed. The ending was unsatisfying. I will never know if the dog survived.

This was a fun read, and I'm going to read the next book in the series. Compelling characters, good world building, interesting plot.

No Exercises
Revisado: 06-30-20
This book was disappointing. Although it had some good info on disorders driven by pelvic floor health, I was expecting some specific recommendations on exercises and behaviors to help. Instead she just tries to sell you on seeing a pelvic floor PT.

fact-filled recommendations for weight los
Revisado: 02-05-20
I loved this book and I'm starting to implement it's recommendations immediately! I note that all the negative reviews are from people who don't like the author's narration style. Personally I like it, but I recommend you go to his website NutritionFacts and watch a couple of his videos to make sure it's your thing.

Historia
Fat is an obsession, a dirty word, a subject of national handwringing - and, according to biochemist Sylvia Tara, the least understood part of our body. You may not love your fat, but your body certainly does. In fact your body is actually endowed with many self-defense measures to hold on to fat. For example, fat can use stem cells to regenerate; increase our appetite if it feels threatened; and use bacteria, genetics, and viruses to expand itself. The secret to losing 20 pounds? You have to work with your fat, not against it.

I really enjoyed this book! Lots of good information about the physiology of fat, plus interesting stories about how science was done in the subject. Useful advice for winning the war against fat gain too

Historia
Emily is an artificial consciousness designed in a lab to help humans process trauma, which is particularly helpful when the sun begins to die five billion years before scientists agreed it was supposed to. Her beloved human race is screwed, and so is Emily. That is, until she finds a potential answer buried deep in the human genome that may save them all. But not everyone is convinced Emily has the best solution - or the best intentions. Before her theory can be tested, the lab is brutally attacked, and Emily's servers are taken hostage.

Good, but imperfect
Revisado: 07-03-19
I enjoyed this book - it was a fun read. However, some of the biology and evolutionary science in the book seems pretty implausible and it doesn't explain well how it might have come about, which impaired the ability to immerse myself in the story.
