Historia
The man who became known as Esrahaddon is reported to have destroyed the world’s greatest empire—but there are those who believe he saved it. Few individuals are as divisive, but all agree on three facts: He was exiled to the wilderness, hunted by a goblin priestess, and sentenced to death by a god—all before the age of eight. How he managed to survive and why people continued to fear his name a thousand years later has always been a mystery...until now.

loved the characters, loved the story. oh the heartache! the legends! While you can pick yo this book and read without reading any other book of Mr. Sullivan, I highly recommend reading the other series first- better character investment.

Historia
On the flight to their "babymoon" in Hawaii before their first child arrived, Allison Pataki's husband turned to her to ask if his eye looked strange, and then suddenly lost consciousness. After making an emergency landing, they discovered that Dave, a lifelong, healthy athlete and orthopedic surgery resident at Rush Medical School in Chicago, had suffered a rare, and often fatal, stroke. Dave was one of the lucky ones though, and he survived, but the man who woke up from his coma was not the same man Allison had fallen in love with at Yale.

A wonderfully written story of one couples experience of horrible medical tragedy. I only wish it could have continued to more present day to hear how they overcome struggle as things truly settled into routine. but that's what the internet is for!

Historia
1867, Richmond, Virginia: Though she wears the same low-cut purple gown that is the uniform of all the girls who work at Worsham's gambling parlor, Arabella stands apart. It's not merely her statuesque beauty and practiced charm. Even at seventeen, Arabella possesses an unyielding grit, and a resolve to escape her background of struggle and poverty. Collis Huntington, railroad baron and self-made multimillionaire, is drawn to Arabella from their first meeting. Collis is married and 30 years her senior, yet they are well-matched in temperament, and flirtation rapidly escalates into an affair.

Well built characters and story

loved loved loved this historic fiction piece! the only dislike I had was the narrator. Her raspy voice sounded like she was whispering through the book. several times I turned the volume up on my headphones, only to become temporary deaf when I forgot and switched to music. despite this, loved the story enough that I'll listen to it again, and probably make myself temporary deaf again, in the distant future.

Historia
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

great novela by Mr. Butcher
Revisado: 11-12-23
Anyone familiar with Dresden will enjoy this novela story. Typical Dresden style, interesting story, and for a change narrorated by the author himself! Having listened to all prior stories narrorated by Mr. Marsters, I was skeptical I'd enjoy this with a different voice. Mr. Butcher did a great job! My only critique is Bob the Skull. Sorry Jim, he's brittish. I can't hear him any other way now. Your voice sounded more like what I imagine Toot-toot sounding, or maybe Butters.

Here, together for the first time, are the shorter works of best-selling author Jim Butcher - a compendium of cases that Harry and his cadre of allies managed to close in record time. The tales range from the deadly serious to the absurdly hilarious.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

What an inspiration!
Revisado: 01-29-23
Can anyone truly feel bad for themselves after going through what Dr. Frankl went through and hearing his optimism? I am no student of psychology but couldn't help but he fascinated by his story and theory of logotherapy. This is the first I've heard of it and love it. Brilliant book.

Historia
When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave - "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" - wasn't about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because "time is all you have... and you may find one day that you have less than you think").

Historia
In the early 1900s, the playwright Galeazzo D’Ascanio lived for Celia Sands. She was his muse and the inspiration for his most stunning and original play. But the night before she was to take the stage, Celia disappeared. Now, decades later, Alessandro D’Ascanio is preparing to stage the first performance of his grandfather’s masterpiece. A promising young actress - who shares Celia Sands’ name, but not her blood - has agreed to star. She is instantly drawn to the mysteries surrounding the play - and to her compelling, compassionate employer. And even though she knows she should let the past go, in her dreams it comes back.

solid story, just a little lacking
Revisado: 12-13-22
I adore the works of Ms. Kearsley. This is a nice one, but not my favorite. The characters are lacking a little something to me. The narrative is performed well enough but the person's voice is so soft-spoken that at times I have to adjust my volume, only to have to adjust it back down again. That takes a little out of the story.

weak, terribly written
Revisado: 11-22-22
This author did not properly research shell shock. Don't write about something personal to thousands of people without doing the work Ms. Graham. The characters were inconsistent to the point of whiplash. the love story was so bad I wished for an unhappy ending. I have liked other works from this author, but it's apparent in this book it was stopped together. don't waste your time! life is too short for terrible stories like this one.

slow start, good end
Revisado: 11-07-22
the story started slow to me and repeated itself to annoyance. I was about to give up when one of the characters repeated my favorite quote; you want to make God laugh, tell him all about your plans. so it recaptured my attention and slowly, slowly became an excellent story. not quite as predictable as I eas expecting, but a little over the top in some spots.
