…along with the ‘voices’ of the narration it came off as pompous, overworked and unnatural. The subject matter was obscured by the story telling. For only the second time in over 300 audible books purchased in the last five years I requested a return of the title. I will be ordering one of the shorter format 5 AM club books, by a different author. I’m sincerely sorry to leave a negative review. As a rule, i only leave a review when I have something positive to say but I felt I should share my experience of the book.

This was an insipid oration on the teenage brain delivered in a cloying voice with melodramatic anecdotal stories of teens making bad choices. Not helpful at all to a parent seeking to understand how to engage with a teen as they develop physiologically, emotionally and socially. Sorry for the harsh review, I think all the references to how the author grew up in Greenwich, went to Ivy League schools, how her sons went to Ivy League schools and got multiple degrees, and other name dropping was particularly are you annoying to a parent with a teen facing challenges far beyond those she used of her own sons’ (not) challenges.

The simple wisdom Craig shares is a path to enlightened living. And it’s fully attainable. I listened to his books over and over to silence my egoic mind and elevate my subconscious. Please also read Craig’s book ‘Alcohol Lied To Me’. His guidance in connecting with your subconscious mind to live a better and happier life is transformative. I have read every great teacher from EcKhart Tolle to Brene Brown to Pena Chodron - it was Craig’s book that helped me achieve my goals. Thank you Craig!!

Sadly a waste of time & money for such a compelling topic

Chatty narrative lacking scientific and medical substantiation relying instead on generalities and platitudes. Surface level anecdotal and second hand references including the cheap shot allusion to the ‘Nobel Prize Winning’ research - which is not included with any detail. The entire work lacks apparent professional editing as evidenced by frequent grammatical errors and repetitive and contradictory statements. Sadly the narration is incredibly annoying (narrator pronounces ‘during’ as ‘daring’; other vocal nuances are simply grating.)

I have almost 300 titles in my Audible library. I rarely write reviews, and even more rarely negative ones, but want to alert other Audible readers who have generously shared their valuable insights over the years. It’s as if the author wrote this book after reading a handful of nutrition, keto and fasting books, and included a bit of high level thinking from each. I will, as another reviewer suggested, seek a refund from Audible.

Hugely funny, informative and educational...Al retells the years prior to his first Senate race, including entertaining stories of his early years and career as a Comedian, an insider look at his time at SNL, but even more interestingly, his activism and run up to the Senate and Capitol Hill. I live only six blocks from the Capitol but learned much about the inner workings (and dysfunction) of the Hill, but was nonetheless left with a feeling of optimism as Al called all listeners to find a cause and engage.

My mother grew up in Hibbing Minnesota on the Mesabi Iron Range. How she became a Rush Limbaugh quoting Republican in her later years after living in the amazing state of Minnesota that Al describes, I will never know. The Minnesota I learned about from Al is one I would happily adopt as my own (except it's just to damn cold up there :)

Off to listen to Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them. Al, thanks for a delightful 12 hours!

Though I love the story and the narrator was quite good it was a little confusing for me to listen to a woman tell the story of Greg Mortenson when using the first person. I believe I would have enjoyed the narration much more had it been in a mail voice.

Though I am betting that given Greg's discomfort with the first person narration that he may have asked to have a woman tell the story. That made me smile.
