Historia
Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she’s now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people. As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre’s hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Okay, but probably won't stick with me
Revisado: 05-23-20
This book was fine. In ways, I felt it was rather predictable and if you look at broad themes - the characters were pretty cliche which was disappointing. On the other hand, the larger questions you can pull from the book - is their fulfillment in a solitary lifestyle? Where and when is forgiveness appropriate or not? - they are worth asking and compelling in guiding a storyline. This absolutely wasn't my favorite book of all time and I don't anticipate it's a story I'll go back and reread it at any point but I don't feel like it was a waste of time. I would watch the movie if it were made.
The reader was also okay, I don't felt like the narration added anything to the story, but I also don't think it detracted from the story terribly either. I am not from the south, but I could understand where people from the area or who are more familiar with the natural accent may struggle with believability which could pull the quality down for them.

Historia
Abigail Adams offers a fresh perspective on the famous events of Adams's life, and along the way, Woody Holton, a renowned historian of the American Revolution, takes on numerous myths about the men and women of the founding era. But the book also demonstrates that domestic dramas---from unplanned pregnancies to untimely deaths---could be just as heartbreaking, significant, and inspiring as the actions of statesmen and soldiers.

Historia
In this riveting landmark autobiography, which reads like a novel, Academy Award and Emmy winner Louis Gossett, Jr., masterfully transports us to 1840s New York; Washington, D.C.; and Louisiana to experience the kidnapping and 12 years of bondage of Solomon Northup, a free man of color. Twelve Years a Slave, published in 1853, was an immediate bombshell in the national debate over slavery leading up to the Civil War.

This is the most compelling narrative to which I've ever been exposed. I am flabbergasted that this wasn't required reading during High School. this story is so incredibly important.

It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

fantastic
Revisado: 04-02-17
One of the best audiobooks to which I've listened. Not only is Trevor Noah a phenomenal storyteller, but his personal story is so incredibly unique and compelling. He has offered a glimpse into a life that is so removed from what many have experienced, and yet made so many parts of it relatable. One of the best examples exemplifying that no matter who you are and where you're from and what you've experienced, we are all human.

One night upon closing, he discovers a toddler in his children’s section with a note from her mother pinned to her Elmo doll: I want Maya to grow up in a place with books and among people who care about such kinds of things. So good!
Revisado: 07-13-16
I read all three books of the Abhorsen trilogy years ago and loved them. Have reread them and recommended them to others many times since. It's been a little while since my last reading, so when I started reading this one, I was a little worried that maybe I should have reread them again first, but I'm glad I didn't. This book is a prequal to the trilogy and was made so much better by having a memory of the books without a sharp memory of all the details. Holy crow! what a fantastic story! Remarkable twist at the end and just wanted to stay immersed in the Old Kingdom all the time!
