Historia
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Chapter 16 and nothing has happened …
Revisado: 02-21-25
Hoping this turns around but so far this has been the most boring audible book I’ve listened to. I have liked Emily’s other books and also love the narrator, but this story, well, I’ve yet to figure out the plot and it feels like a waste….

Really enjoyed this book
Revisado: 10-11-24
At first I had a hard time keeping the timeline straight listening to the book vs reading it (where it’s easy to flip back a few pages to compare dates) but it all came together anyway. I really enjoyed the characters and their individual stories. The narrator, as usual, was brilliant.

Engaging story
Revisado: 06-17-24
I was hooked on the story line but I really could not stand Maya. Maybe it was the narrator who ruined it for me (she did a great job overall), but the tone used for every single dialogue Maya had was just negative, sarcastic, laced with annoyance. Didn’t enjoy the ending personally.

Historia
Joan Sample is not living the life she expected. Now a widow and an empty-nester, she has become by her own admission something of a recluse. But after another birthday spent alone, she is finally inclined to listen to her sister, who has been begging Joan to reengage with the world. With Emmie’s support, Joan gathers the courage to take some long-awaited steps: hiring someone to tame her overgrown garden, joining a grief support group, and even renting out a room to a local college student. Before long Joan is starting to feel a little like herself again.

A miss..
Revisado: 12-08-23
I listened to this on a recommendation from someone who had read the book and liked it. Perhaps it was the narrator’s voice that did it in or the awful characters that were two sons, but by the end it was painful. It had promise but I just couldn’t enjoy it.

Loved this book
Revisado: 08-14-22
I really was surprised by this book, as it’s not at all what I expected. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard Alma Cuervo’s voice narrating as Evelyn. I loved listening to her in the Isabel Allende books I’ve downloaded. I’m actually sad the story is over and will likely have a hard time getting into another book for awhile..

Historia
Prescription for Happiness offers a 30-day program for reaching a new level of energy, clarity, and calm. Too often, conventional medicine treats the mind as separate from the body. However, science shows that physical issues, such as chronic illness and weight fluctuation, are oftentimes intricately entwined with mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, fatigue, and more. This must-have book explores the new science of optimizing the body in ways that will help anyone attain a new baseline for energy, calm, and optimism.

Amazing book - eye opener for me
Revisado: 01-31-22
I started listening yesterday and am so excited to keep listening. I actually bought the hard copy today too to go back and reference later. I am loving the narrator’s delivery, and really feel the author/doctor cares about patients actually improving their overall life quality, as opposed to treating just an ailment that many western medicine doctors focus on. I realize that going to a functional doctor can be expensive - and people may be turned off by feeling that the book is only for the privileged, but I disagree. She is trying to empower readers and listeners to be more in-charge if their own health and empowered.
