Historia
Winner of the 1961 Hugo Award for Best Novel and widely considered one of the most accomplished, powerful, and enduring classics of modern speculative fiction, Walter M. Miller’s A Canticle for Leibowitz is a true landmark of 20th-century literature—a chilling and still-provocative look at a postapocalyptic future.

I don't see what the fuss is all about. Interesting perspective on the future but boring story that goes no where.

Historia
Edwin St. Andrew is eighteen years old when he crosses the Atlantic by steamship, exiled from polite society following an ill-conceived diatribe at a dinner party. He enters the forest, spellbound by the beauty of the Canadian wilderness, and suddenly hears the notes of a violin echoing in an airship terminal—an experience that shocks him to his core.

Well thought out but dmslow
Revisado: 11-29-22
The author provides a good spin on time travel and sci-fi, but the story itself is kind of slow. Well done with inner woven characters and time periods, but you have to be in it for the author's perspective on time travel more than the adventure of the story.

Reads like a journal so not many page turning details of battles or suspense. Good read if you are a history buff, would not recommend if not. Ends at a strange place.

Historia
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Well written and but comes up short. Characters are interesting but the end leaves you thinking "is that it?". Better ways to spend your time than reading this.

Historia
Hampton Sides' superb account of this epic clash in the Korean War relies on years of archival research, unpublished letters, declassified documents, and interviews with scores of marines and Koreans who survived the siege. While expertly detailing the follies of the American leaders, On Desperate Ground is an immediate, grunt's-eye view of history, enthralling in its narrative pace and powerful in its portrayal of what ordinary men are capable of in the most extreme circumstances.

Revisado: 10-09-18
The book was well written and the narrator is great, but the ending definitely makes you wonder why you just sat through 6 hours of book to get there! it is like the author had a great idea then just got tired of riding and decided to wrap things up where he was.
