I chuckled away at the droll humour. What an imagination the author has. I enjoy his serious books also, which was why I bought this one.

Gripping, very compelling.

This book was well worth listening to. I couldn't wait to get back to it after each break. It is also a very plausible plot about extreme intimate partner violence.

Historia
Arthur Meadows has just returned home in his HGV from a long trip to southwest Europe, supposedly bringing back a consignment of cloth, yet is actually bringing back something far more deadly. Meanwhile, a young Asian couple are murdered in their small house in the middle of Gloucester, the killings done with ruthless efficiency. Beverley Wharton, now Chief Inspector, does not relish the investigation of the murders because she does not get on with her new sergeant, and because the pathologist Charles Sydenham would not have been her first choice.

Brilliant!
Revisado: 01-23-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely recommended! It is a gripping story, one of those ones you don't want to put down.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed the suspense and utter surprise at the twists in the story.
Have you listened to any of Seán Barrett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I haven't.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
At one stage I almost didn't want to listen because I could guess what terrible things were going to be said - but I couldn't tear myself away from the grimness of the story being told. I found myself thinking "Oh my god".

What if you could go back in time and change the course of history?11.22.63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless.... King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill who becomes the love of Jake's life.

Fascinating but long!!
Revisado: 08-27-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would make it not so darn long.
Would you recommend 11.22.63 to your friends? Why or why not?
I wouldn't. Although the story was fascinating initially with the time travel aspect, I was not nearly so interested in JFK's assassination.
Could you see 11.22.63 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Yes I could imagine it would make a good movie, but no ideas re actors.

Historia
The first girl had a bite mark on her neck, but they traced the DNA to her boyfriend. But the tabloids got hold of the story and called the killer 'The Rottweiler' and the name stuck. The latest murder takes place very near Inez Ferry's antique shop in Marylebone. When the Rottweiler’s trinkets start showing up in the shop, suddenly, everyone Inez knows is a suspect, and the killer feels all too close.

Really good potboiler!
Revisado: 08-27-12
Where does The Rottweiler rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would say one of the top ones. The characters were ones I could relate to, with their little quirks of personality.
What other book might you compare The Rottweiler to and why?
This was a good Ruth Rendell, typical of her. It included many moments that made me smile. I can't really compare it to anything else I've read.
What about Nigel Anthony’s performance did you like?
He was brilliant with his voices. They were all very distinctive.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Really exciting story!
Revisado: 08-27-12
Would you listen to 14 again? Why?
No, I never listen to a story or read a book more than once. I like to be in suspense.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a gripping science fiction story.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was robotic. The narrator puts on some quite good voices, but does sound like a robot, which is a bit disappointing.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Probably the bit where the characters were hanging on for dear life out in space - very exciting!
