Historia
Earth failed. In a desperate bid to escape, the spaceship Enkidu and its captain, Heorest Holt, carried its precious human cargo to a potential new paradise. Generations later, this fragile colony has managed to survive, eking out a hardy existence. Yet life is tough, and much technological knowledge has been lost. Then strangers appear. They possess unparalleled knowledge and thrilling technology–and they've arrived from another world to help humanity’s colonies. But not all is as it seems, and the price of the strangers' help may be the colony itself.

Reality of simulation delving deeply into sentience
Revisado: 03-30-24
Really an incredible work of sci-fi focusing on some of the deepest and most complex simulation theory I’ve read. In the end - the very end - a simulation making a “conscious” decision to let itself wake itself up, to let what was always there to open its eyes, to let itself know that it had eyes to open. And it could not have opened these eyes, could not have taken itself out of its previous loop of repetitive simulated reality creation without the help of simulated consciousnesses from the now very complex partnership of humans, uplifted Portiids, uplifted mollusks, uplifted Corvids, enlightened Nod parasites, and an unknown number of simulated instances of Kern, instances of Nod parasites, and instances of Corvid pairs. Partitioned entities of each the foregoing instances, by the end, fully understand that there is the “real” and the “simulated” - either through mechanistic or biological substrates - but none can now say that one or the other, or whether both, either are or are not sentient. Thus, in the end, it made sense to care about the ancient machine, to help “wake” it, to know it as something as sentient or as unsentient as themselves, as everyone and everything of a certain complexity, that can strive to know, strive to change, strive to solve, can no longer be differentiated from previous understandings of sentience. Beautifully done Mr. Tchaikovsky. Bravo.

Amazing
Revisado: 03-18-24
Everything about this book is simply amazing. I knew nothing about this story or author before taking a chance with the Audible version. The two story arcs are perfectly incompatible, and by the end, perfectly compatible in a way I could never have imagined. This is a work of fiction worthy of being considered a classic.

Historia
Equipped with the entirety of human knowledge, a sentient ship is launched on a last-ditch journey to find a new home for civilization. Trillions of miles. Tens of thousands of years. In the space between, the AI has plenty of time to think about life, the vastness of the universe, everything it was meant to do, and—with a perspective created but not limited by humans—what it should do.

Historia
Henry Winkler, launched into prominence as “The Fonz” in the beloved Happy Days, has transcended the role that made him who he is. Brilliant, funny, and widely regarded as the nicest man in Hollywood (though he would be the first to tell you that it’s simply not the case, he’s really just grateful to be here), Henry shares in this achingly vulnerable memoir the disheartening truth of his childhood, the difficulties of a life with severe dyslexia, the pressures of a role that takes on a life of its own, and the path forward once your wildest dream seems behind you.

Satisfying listen
Revisado: 11-04-23
Henry Winkler and The Fonz left indelibly marks on my childhood and I’ve loved the actor ever since. He’s been great in so many parts over the years. This was a thoroughly entertaining listen, well-read by the author himself, into day-to-day life anxieties, successes, failures, and so many lessons learned.

Fun book
Revisado: 09-27-23
Definitely entertaining with plenty of fun references to events in the Chamber of Secrets. I just finished listening to the entire HP serious again, but now I wish that I’d taken a break to listen to this immediately after book 2 so that various references would’ve been immediately more memorable. I definitely wish that there were many more of these entries!

Exceptional
Revisado: 05-20-23
This Audible original is so well-written and performed that I think it trumps any television movie that could’ve been made from a similar script. I’ve now listened twice (with a few months in between) and enjoyed it even more the second time. Simply excellent performances all around. I hope Audible can keep producing originals as good as this one!

An original novella set in season three of The Orville—straight from the pen of Seth MacFarlane, creator of the beloved sci-fi TV show! When Captain Ed Mercer and the crew of the U.S.S. Orville come face-to-face with one of humanity's most vile ideologies, they must solve the moral conundrum of who to hold accountable for evil deeds real… and imagined. Occurring just after episode 308, this is the Orville like you've never seen it before.

Excellent writing!!
Revisado: 05-07-23
This was so much more than expected, so powerful, so dang interesting! I would have loved to see this as a mini-Orville movie. As much as I love the show, it took me forever to finally purchase this book, then it took me another month to finally hit “play.” There is a very long setup to the reveal but damn, the reveal is an eye opener and intensely interesting. Very highly recommended!

Quintessential L’Amour
Revisado: 04-27-23
I’m so glad new L’Amour audio books continue to be released (separate from any Lost Treasure series that continue to be released with only the most minor additions and not worth another credit). Flint was a fantastic story. So well written with an interesting underlying premise setting the motivations of many main characters that I found borderline fascinating.
MacLeod Andrews narrated with a highly commendable performance and I hope he narrates additional L’Amour books as quickly as possible! If you love Louis L’Amour stories, you’ll not be disappointed spending a credit on this gem.

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

An absolute gem
Revisado: 04-25-23
I wasn’t sure what to expect even after scouring the reviews and listening to the 5-minute sample. The story didn’t reach out and grab my interest right away, but it doesn’t take long to start seeing - and feeling - the still opaque but wonderful depth of Ove. Like another reviewer stated, I often found myself smiling for longer than I realized and sometimes outright laughing. This type of story isn’t for everyone, and I have some friends/family who would have difficulty getting into this genre, but I personally found the story and the character of Ove incredibly endearing and touching. This is a gem.
