Historia
Xiaolu Guo has traveled further than most to become who she needed to be. Now, as she experiences the birth of her daughter in a London maternity ward surrounded by women from all over the world, she looks back on that journey. It begins in the fishing village shack on the East China Sea where her illiterate grandparents raised her, and brings her to a rapidly changing Beijing, full of contradictions: a thriving underground art scene amid mass censorship, curious Westerners who held out affection only to disappear back home.

Historia
Mindf*ck goes deep inside Cambridge Analytica’s "American operations", which were driven by Steve Bannon’s vision to remake America and fueled by mysterious billionaire Robert Mercer’s money, as it weaponized and wielded the massive store of data it had harvested on individuals - in excess of 87 million - to disunite the United States and set Americans against each other. Bannon had long sensed that deep within America’s soul lurked an explosive tension. Cambridge Analytica had the data to prove it.

A book of global significance that provides new insight into China, Factory Girls demonstrates how the mass movement from rural villages to cities is remaking individual lives and transforming Chinese society, much as immigration to America's shores remade our own country a century ago.

terrible mispronunciations, good story
Revisado: 02-06-20
this person mispronounced every Chinese word in the book so badly that you could never talk to a Chinese person about the content of the book because they would have no idea what you are talking about. this is a simple fix! study pinyin pronunciation for 2 days before ruining a book.

Historia
For decades, a major piece of World War II history has gone virtually unwritten. The war began in China two full years before Hitler invaded Poland, and China eventually became the fourth great ally, partner to the United States, the Soviet Union, and Great Britain. Yet its drama of invasion, resistance, slaughter, and political intrigue remains little known in the West.

I can'teven pay attention to the content of the story because he reads at a steady Pace with no vocal variation and never pauses it all. the worst part is that he has NO IDEA how to pronounce ANYTHING that's not English, no matter what language it is. if you try to talk to ANYONE Chinese about this content, they will have no idea what you're talking about whether it's places or names, because all Chinese words are horribly mispronounced. this is an extremely easy fix. spend two days studying pinyin pronunciation before ruining a book recording.

Historia
Lenora Chu and her husband decided to enroll three-year-old Rainer in China's state-run public school system. The results were positive - her son quickly settled down, became fluent in Mandarin, and enjoyed his friends - but she also began to notice troubling new behaviors. Wondering what was happening behind closed classroom doors, she embarked on an exploratory journey, interviewing Chinese parents, teachers, and education professors, and following students at all stages of their education.

A balanced view of Shanghai kindergarten education
Revisado: 01-23-20
First of all the book had a wonderful performance.the pace was good, the recording this high-quality, and the reader had excellent Vogel Dynamics. as far as the content goes, I thought she had a very balanced perspective. many westerners are very critical of the Chinese education system and yet realize the Western system has something left the game. It was very interesting to see a case study of an American with their child in the Chinese system, and I think Lenora Chu did a good job of balancing her skepticism and her ultimate realization of some of the Chinese systems merits. very well done!

Historia
Lianyungang, a booming port city, has China's most extreme gender ratio for children under four: 163 boys for every 100 girls. These numbers don't seem terribly grim, but in 10 years, the skewed sex ratio will pose a colossal challenge. By the time those children reach adulthood, their generation will have 24 million more men than women. The prognosis for China's neighbors is no less bleak: Asia now has 163 million females "missing" from its population. And gender imbalance reaches far beyond Asia....
