The narrator was ok, I was not a fan of how she tried to souls like a man but I guess that can’t be helped.
The story was predictable. It was so clear who the killer is since he was first mentioned I thought he had to be a red herring, but no. And the twist was not surprising as well, or maybe I just watched and read too many crime dramas.
What I found most jarring is the immediate infatuation of the characters with each other, they were practically drooling upon sei g each other, I expected more detective and less sappy romance. And the benevolent sexism of the male lead was a bit annoying - he constantly explicitly forbade the heroine from doing stuff (like changing a tire, for example) because she is a woman.

Very good voice acting and effects, and the story itself was pretty captivating.
What I did not expect is the main characters personal drama, constant crying and overall acting like an unprofessional hysterical mess. I wish it was more police drama and less melodrama.
And yes, the unsatisfying abrupt ending without a conclusion is jarring.

The story is a pretty standard Firefly story, but with a lot less action.
My main problem is with this story’s additional POV character, I found her extremely pompous, boring and long-winded. The first chapter with her going on and on about “my daddy” almost made me stop listening. The slow southern nasal twang they chose for her to give the country gal impression did not help either.
All in all, if you are not a super fan I would not spend a credit on this one, it adds nothing to the story.

The amount of reflection and talk about friendship worthy of a My little pony episode is not something I am looking for in an Alien book.
The narrator trying to imitate a male voice for male characters sounded odd and a bit comical.
The action is decent, but the protagonists constant inner lamentations made it a meh book for me.

This story is an odd hybrid of Alien and Aliens, that does not fit into the main storyline but tries to do so by the means of, of all things, memory loss. >.>
The acting is great and the action sequences are captivating, but the completely illogical presence of Ripley kind of ruined it for me.
It would make a lot more sense for this story to be the story of the colony on LV-426 after re-discovery of the ship and before arrival of the Sulaco.
As it is its kind of wow, what a coincidence, another alien ship, on another planetoid, with another colony, and with Ripley that just happened to conveniently fly by, even though she is supposed to be found in another 20 years, in the same pod, on the same ship, with a cat and no other people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
