Historia
Travel journalist and mountaineer Nick Grevers awakes from a coma to find that his climbing buddy, Augustin, is missing and presumed dead. Nick’s own injuries are as extensive as they are horrifying. His face wrapped in bandages and unable to speak, Nick claims amnesia - but he remembers everything. He remembers how he and Augustin were mysteriously drawn to the Maudit, a remote and scarcely documented peak in the Swiss Alps. He remembers how the slopes of Maudit were eerily quiet, and how, when they entered its valley, they got the ominous sense that they were not alone.

This book had good ingredients, but wasn't satisfying.
One of the main protagonists, Sam, was written like a teen in a YA novel. It made him a bit insufferable. I thought maybe it was the narrator so I switched from audio to kindle. It was the writing.
There were so many great ideas here, it just wasn't working for me in the execution.

Historia
From bestselling author Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquleaure. In the traditional folktale of 'Sleeping Beauty,' the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. It is an ancient story, one that originally emerged from and still deeply disturbs the mind's unconscious. Now Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire. Here the Prince reawakens Beauty, not with a kiss, but with sexual initiation.

This book is silly
Revisado: 01-11-22
I can't believe I read this in 5th grade and thought it was amazing.
10 yr olds are idiots.
Basically this is a lot of spanking and lacking the power tension you find in real bdsm relationships.
2 stars for nostalgia.

Historia
This transcendent story follows four college friends who move to New York City, buoyed by ambition: Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, an artist; Malcolm, an architect; and, at the center, Jude, a withdrawn, brilliant attorney haunted by an unspeakable past. Through decades of shared and separate lives, Jude’s suffering - and its impact on those who love him - raises questions about the limits of human endurance, the possibility for redemption, and the meaning of friendship.

I did this to myself
Revisado: 12-31-21
I knew this book's reputation and I went into it thinking "it can't be that sad."
Well... it is that sad. Every time something awful was revealed I would check the remaining time and exclaim "how much worse can this get?" Then it would get worse.
The narrator is doing an amazing job reading this content with emotion. His performance contributed greatly to how much I enjoyed the book.
Yes, I did enjoy this absolute bummer of a book. There are a few character choices the author makes that don't make much sense in real life. Then there are charater choices the author makes that are so perfect, subtle, real and unflattering.
Should you read this book? Yes, but my recommendation may be coming from the same place that wants others to smell something gross I just smelled. It is a bummer.

Historia
Remy and Alicia, a couple of insecure service workers, are not particularly happy together. But they are bound by a shared obsession with Jen, a beautiful former coworker of Remy’s who now seems to be following her bliss as a globe-trotting jewelry designer. In and outside the bedroom, Remy and Alicia's entire relationship revolves around fantasies of Jen, whose every Instagram caption, outfit, and new age mantra they know by heart. Imagine their confused excitement when they run into Jen, in the flesh, and she invites them on a surfing trip to the Hamptons.

This story's second half took a wild turn.
The narrator did a fantasic job bringing life to these characters.

Historia
Before the nightmares began, Yeong-hye and her husband lived an ordinary, controlled life. But the dreams—invasive images of blood and brutality—torture her, driving Yeong-hye to purge her mind and renounce eating meat altogether. It’s a small act of independence, but it interrupts her marriage and sets into motion an increasingly grotesque chain of events at home. As her husband, her brother-in-law, and sister each fight to reassert their control, Yeong-hye obsessively defends the choice that’s become sacred to her.

Upsetting in a good way
Revisado: 11-05-21
I was hesitant to purchase this because of the reviews saying negative things about the 2 narrators.
I am glad I gave it a chance because I found nothing wrong with their work. Janet Song's readings were dreamy and perfect for Yeong-hye's character.
This story evokes a lot of strong feelings and I will be thinking of it for a long time.
Also... I wanted to slap Mr.Cheong with a sandal.

Oliver Park, a recovering addict from Indiana, finally has everything he ever wanted: sobriety and a loving, wealthy partner in Nathan, a prominent DC trauma surgeon. Despite their difference in age and disparate backgrounds, they've made a perfect life together. With everything to lose, Oliver shouldn't be visiting Haus, a gay bathhouse. But through the entrance he goes, and it's a line crossed. Inside, he follows a man into a private room, and it's the final line. Whatever happens next, Nathan can never know.

This was a pretty wild ride. If you liked Netflix's You show it's a similar vibe.
