Historia
A man in exile, banished to a planet far from home and cursed with immortality, discovers that a ship has crash-landed near his settlement. After two hundred years, his heart’s desire has come true. A visitor has finally arrived on his lonely little speck in the stars. He’ll have companionship again. Someone he could love forever. As the weary traveler heals, the two men form a tender bond. But all they’ve come to share may not be enough to curb the visitor’s irrepressible wanderlust.

Wonderful retelling
Revisado: 10-13-23
I thought this was a great variation on the myth of Calypso and Odysseus, and the narration was excellent.

Historia
Every time you watch baseball, you’re watching more than just a game - you’re participating in the latest chapter of a compelling story. What began as the earliest bat-and-ball games became the favorite American pastime of the first 19th-century baseball games. Knowing how baseball came to be what it is today will add levels of enjoyment, respect, and appreciation to any game you watch.

Not what I expected

Fascinating
Revisado: 11-21-20
This was a great, great look at the evolution of baseball against the backdrop of changing American culture. A fascinating look at both history and the sport. Bruce Markusen is a natural storyteller.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

A LOVELY, SAD AND PROFOUND BOOK!

Largely predictable and overwritten
Revisado: 11-21-20
I was really disappointed in this novel. Far too much of this book was spent on exposition and setting, and of course the plot and two-dimensional characters fell largely along predictable lines.
I think the narration was reasonably good, given what she had to work with.
