badly edited, mediocre reader
Revisado: 12-23-23
Repeatedly repeats whoke paragraphs, which is annoying and time consuming.
The reader mispronounces multiple words and her inflections emphasize the saccharine, pedantic qualities of the story that would be better downplayed.

inferior to Little Women
Revisado: 02-13-18
I found this book, particularly the first story, to be saccharine, pedantic, and preachy. It is if it was written to be a morality tale, and is far from being great literature. The characters are not people I would want to spend time with, and they lack depth. Although some of the stories are better than others, I would not recommend this book to anyone, except perhaps preteen romantics who are not opposed to such blatant morality tales.

Historia
For centuries, the legend of Robin Hood and his band of thieves has captivated the imagination. Now the familiar tale takes on new life, fresh meaning, and an unexpected setting. Hunted like an animal by Norman invaders, Bran ap Brychan, heir to the throne of Elfael, has abandoned his father's kingdom and fled to the greenwood. There, in the primeval forest of the Welsh borders, danger surrounds him, for this woodland is a living, breathing entity with mysterious powers and secrets.

fun story, annoying reader
Revisado: 08-22-17
I liked the story, which was exciting and interestingly re-set in Wales rather than England.
Sadly, the reader did not bother learning how to correctly pronounce names and place names, or even some common English words (such as"draught"), which grated on me throughout the entire book. It was so irritating to my husband that he stopped listening after a couple chapters.
I would like to get Scarlett, but I am not sure I can handle the reader mangling the language for another 12 hours.

A mysterious boatman on the Thames, a drowned heir, a dustman and his wife, and a host of other Dickens characters populate this novel of relationships between the classes, money, greed, and love. The 58 characters are presented with remarkable clarity by David Timson.

fabulous reader, fabulous story!

I have long loved this book as one of my favorite Dickens novels, and this reader did a wonderful job of capturing the characters personalities with many varied voices.
