Historia
The government is not a neutral arbiter of truth. It never has been. It never will be. Doubt everything. John Stossel does. A self-described skeptic, he has dismantled society's sacred cows with unerring common sense. Now he debunks the most sacred of them all: our intuition and belief that government can solve our problems. In No, They Can't, the New York Times best-selling author and Fox News commentator insists that we discard that idea of the "perfect" government - left or right - and retrain our brain to look only at the facts, to rethink our lives as independent individuals - and fast.

Well presented but too cold for my blood...
Revisado: 06-14-19
I often thought, I wonder if I am a Libertarian... Now, I know I am not. I like John S and I love listening to books read by the author themselves. I will let John's wife (quoted in the book) speak for me. "Your views are cold". That was not meant to be a dig, it just best sums up how I feel about the views expressed, I believe to a certain extent we are our brothers keepers and that is wholesome. I don't feel the Ebenezer Scrooge approach "Well, if they are to die then let them die and decrease the surplus population" is humane. I do appreciate the many references to Henry Hazlitt on Economics he is a good refrence as he was brilliantly straightforward on economic realities. As far as Libertarian ideas...not for me.

Ronald Reagan Admirer
Revisado: 10-11-18
I am always eager to read books of the man I considered to be one of the most inspiring men of our age, Ronald Reagan. Not just for his politics but for his human decency and the quality of his humanity. This book did not disappoint, it was very moving and reinforced what I had already known about this great world leader. Thank you, Peggy, for taking the time to write this book and give us such wonderful insight in a close personal way. I realized at the end I still miss him.

Ronald Reagan is an American success story. From modest beginnings in a small midwestern town to a distinguished career in films and television, he lived the American dream; as governor of California and as the centurys most popular president, he embodied and revitalized the American spirit.

Concise Story of Ronald Reagan in His Own Words
Revisado: 03-24-18
I loved this book as it highlights the things about Ronald Reagan that I always liked the most. His decency and his humanity. Also, it gives us the reasons behind his strategy as President. He was opposed to Socialism and he was opposed to oppression of any kind. He understood the necessity of a strong and respected military as well as a strong economy not weakened by entitlements and high taxes. It is doubtful that we will see another one like him in our generation.

Historia
With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

Not For Me
Revisado: 01-05-18
Truly the story is compelling and I am glad the author survived his childhood ordeals which were something no child should ever have to endure. Loved Mary Darling, her name suits her. That being said the book is quite Narcissistic and lacks...well, just as the heading says, not for me.

Historia
Just two months into his presidency, Ronald Reagan lay near death after a gunman's bullet came within inches of his heart. His recovery was nothing short of remarkable - or so it seemed. But Reagan was grievously injured, forcing him to encounter a challenge that few men ever face. Could he silently overcome his traumatic experience while at the same time carrying out the duties of the most powerful man in the world?

Trash - exposes the authors more than the subject
Revisado: 04-04-16
There are few books I find so distasteful that I do not even finish it but this is one I left unfinished after an hours worth of listening. I don't mind the occasional character bashing that accompanies many books but this book seems to be built on the premise of only focusing on the negative aspects of a persons character telling stories about many of the subjects with (very questionable) lurid details which are not consistent with dozens of other just as credible accounts. The authors reveal themselves as peavy little sniggering story tellers who shroud their facts with the most ignoble tales. Yuk, no thanks!
