Compact guide to behavioral change
Revisado: 07-05-19
Good blend of anecdotes and informative material. Gets to the point quickly and the references to additional information are very clear (tiny URLs that point to small guides etc.). Probably a good start for anyone wanting to start a good habit.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Entertaining, opinionated and unoriginal
Revisado: 01-05-19
This book contains no original thought, anyone familiar history will only get a simple refresher. The narrative is interesting, might recommend it to get people interested in the history of ideas.

What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Infuriating and stupid
Revisado: 06-30-18
I bought the book because I was curious, why was this guy in the news?
I guess some people are just impressed by big words, easily convinced if you mention enough authority figures and make cleaver sounding analogies with ancient texts. There is no deep meaning in this book.
I think Peterson is intelligent but he is no sage or genius, he just happens to be a good public speaker and has discovered a way to monetize this skill by saying controversial things and writing blathering bullshit books that his fans will buy and pretend to have understood as long as he appears to be a strong, confident speaker who heroically defends our freedom of speech and wittily responds to hostile interviewers.
I am not going to spend time explaining this further, if you can not see through this bullshit, you are an idiot. I wish I could not only return this book but charge Peterson for wasting my time.

Historia
A Short History of Nearly Everything is Bill Bryson's quest to understand everything that has happened from the Big Bang to the rise of civilization. He takes subjects that normally bore the pants off most of us, like geology, chemistry, and particle physics, and aims to render them comprehensible to people who have never thought they could be interested in science. In the company of some extraordinary scientists, Bill Bryson reveals the world in a way most of us have never seen it before.

One of my favorites
Revisado: 04-29-18
Love this book. Bill Bryson is brilliant, I have a feeling he could write a book on any subject and make it interesting, although in this case the subject could not be more interesting, the History of the Universe (I guess this could be considered a History of Science as well).
If you love any other work by Bill, science or history, I recommend this book.

It seems like every time a new mother turns on her computer, radio, or television she is greeted with news of yet another scientific study about infancy. Ignoring good information isn't the right course, but just how does one tell the difference between solid studies, preliminary results, and snake oil? In this friendly guide through the science of infancy, Science of Mom blogger and PhD scientist Alice Callahan explains how nonscientist mothers can learn the difference between hype and evidence.

I found the book captivating. Each topic is explained thoroughly, taking into account research for or against each claim. When the science is not clear on the matter, it is clearly stated and the available research presented for the reader to decide.
