Historia
Two months after D-Day, the Allies found themselves in a stalemate in Normandy, having suffered enormous casualties attempting to push through hedgerow country. Troops were spent, and American tankers, lacking the tactics and leadership to deal with the terrain, were losing their spirit. General George Patton and the other top US commanders needed an officer who knew how to break the impasse and roll over the Germans - they needed one man with the grit and the vision to take the war all the way to the Rhine. Patton and his peers selected Maurice Rose.

Good Story/Great Narration
Revisado: 10-23-22
A very good WWII tank/armor book about a relatively unknown, no-nonsense armor commander. Narration was top notch. You won’t be disappointed and you will learn quite a bit too if your a WWII history buff like me.

Very Good LitRPG story
Revisado: 08-06-18
After reading (well listening..) to a few LitRPG stories I was getting close to giving up on the genre. Luckily this book came along and kept me interested.
The geek side of me likes all the stats that are read as the character levels up because it reminds me of my D&D days. I will say that it does get a little repetitive in spots but it’s far from a deal-breaker and doesn’t distract from the overall story..
The plot isn’t the strongest but it’s serviceable. IMHO it’s the character development and the humor which sets it above the rest. The humor is laugh out loud and comes across as if you and the main character are the only one in on the jokes. Good stuff!
Check it out. You won’t be disappointed especially if you are a gamer or gamed in the past.

We watch football every Sunday, but we don't really see it. By spending a year with the New York Jets, Nicholas Dawidoff explored the game in such an intimate way that he can now put you right inside the NFL. Collision Low Crossers is a story that is part Paper Lion and part Moneyball, part Friday Night Lights and part The Office.

Great insider football book..
Revisado: 05-01-15
Before this book I wasn't a big Rex Ryan fan. I have to admit I like him quite a bit more now. It was nice being able to see the inner workings of an NFL team from the brotherhood to the cold, cruel business side.
It's still an amazing opportunity for guys that are beyond "great" athletes. It does touch on the side of "is it worth it" which I felt is a major part of the NFL these days.
Playing college football and going through all the competition, injuries, and mental toughness required made me realize how special these athletes truly are. I'm not say they're better than you or me overall, but what it takes to play and succeed in the NFL is mind boggling to me. In an athletic only point of view, these guys are gifted. They are very well compensated to play a game but the risks are nothing to sneeze at either.
Overall a great tale about what goes on with a typical NFL Team over a given year. Highly recommended!

Historia
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Amazing...
Revisado: 01-26-05
A funny story about "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini was I first stumbled onto this book at Barnes and Noble. It was on display in the young adult/teen section of the store. Being a bit older than a teen, 33 to be exact, I didn't really think it could hold my attention. I was wrong! The story does fit in your basic fantasy setting mold but the author does an excellent job in introducing us to the characters and adding depth to their adventure.
A couple of minor critiques though. First, the fellow reading the story does a great job with the character's voices except fot the Dragon Saphira (spl?). The voice sounded like a bad muppet off of the muppet show. This would be the only reason I would have liked to have read the text instead of listening to the DVD. The other minor critique is once again to do with the dragon. The story refers to the dragons as being mystical creatures with many extraordinary things happening to, and going on, around them. It would have been nice if the author would have dedicated more time to developing Saphira's story and personality.
These very minor critiques aside, I recommend the book to anyone who appreciates a good fantasy story and you don't even need to be a teen to enjoy Eragon and Saphira's captivating adventure!
