Historia
For the majority of people, sorrow, despair, anxiety, and mental illness are everyday experiences. While we have made tremendous advancements in therapy and psychiatry, the burden of living still comes down to mundane choices that we each must make—like the daily choice to get out of bed. In this deeply personal essay, Alan Noble considers the unique burden of everyday life in the modern world. Sometimes, he writes, the choice to carry on amid great suffering—to simply get out of bed—is itself a powerful witness to the goodness of life, and of God.

Best two hours I've spent in a long time
Revisado: 03-28-25
Suffering from depression, with friends and family suffering the same, this came at a perfect time. Counseling has been huge and I'm open about my struggles to others, but this book was a salve to my mental wounds and helps me to discuss it and understand it more. I sent it to everyone. It was only through a random reference once on an Exodus 90 Lent series that I found out about this book. I immediately bought it, listened to it immediately, and was blown away. God bless you.

Read all the books, and this is the best!
Revisado: 03-02-25
I read the entire Lightbringer, and night angel, series and lightbringer is by far the best! And this book makes all four before it one of the greatest series ever! I liked the first four books a lot, but they didn't make it to "great" on their own. This book, however, makes the entire series glorious and wonderful! Close to some of my favorite series. Well done!

The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains. But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend. The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

Finally! Pierce gave us a book to equal the origin
Revisado: 10-10-23
Finally! Finally! This was an excellent though very hard book! It had hope, Tim Gerard Reynolds ONLY! (thank goodness!), charm, and wasn't just a mess of of darkness and despair. It was in the tone of the original trilogy, which was never sunshine and rainbows but it wasn't like watching Saw either. It made me want to read the next one immediately or this one again! Whereas the last two made me want to stop listening to Pierce ever again. Glorious! This was truly a magnificent book and a return to the characters and story that I could really appreciate!!
I look forward to the next book "with GREAT ANTICIPATION! GREAT ANTICIPATION!"
P. S.
After reading other reviews let me just say... They're wrong. One voice actor, maybe two, should ever do a book. You just increase the possibility of mediocrity if you do more. TGR is perfection and he can do it all.

Bringing with him the practical experience that comes from having owned a high-end gun store—catering largely to law enforcement—and as a competitive shooter and self-defense trainer, Correia blasts apart the emotion-laden, logic-free rhetoric of the gun-control fanatics who turn every "mass shooting" into a crazed call for violating your rights, abusing the Constitution—and doing absolutely nothing to really fight crime.

Better than expected!
Revisado: 07-18-23
I love Larry Correa but I was hesitant on him writing non-fiction. I know he knows his gun stuff, but wasn't sure about his legal and stats knowledge. I do wish there was more of a deep dive into the different statistics, with references to both sides sources, because I have had so many people site nonsense stats to me that I can't figure out how and where they get the numbers from.
All in all, this was way more enjoyable than expected and provided me with excellent arguments and knowledge to defender our rights. Even do somethings I have been OK with he helped me clearly define the issues of and dissuade me from those topics. Thanks, Larry!

But when Alcatraz Smedry got strapped to an altar of outdated encyclopedias to be sacrificed to the dark gods, I arrived too late―and instead his father took his place. Now Alcatraz is a blubbering mess, so it’s up to me lead the charge against his father’s killer: Biblioden, founder of the Evil Librarians―I was sure he died centuries ago!―who’s back to complete his goal of world domination.

It was excellent as always but I really just missed Alcatraz. The narrator, and the character. I understand why you did this but I really just wanted to hear from him.

Revisado: 02-07-22
Usually I enjoy Min's perspective the most in these books, but sharing Penny and Rondal's perspective and all of the missing pieces while the other books were going was fantastic. And the post jevalar portion of the story was extremely exciting. This book seemed to take all of the best parts of Terry's writing and incorporating them. Well done.

What does the Bible really say about the birth of Jesus? How did the celebration of Christmas become associated with things like Santa Claus and decorated trees? In The True Meaning of Christmas: The Birth of Jesus and the Origins of the Season, biblical scholar Michael Patrick Barber offers an inspiring look at the Bible's accounts of Jesus' birth and the development of the Christmas season. As Dr. Barber will show, to find our way "home" at Christmas, we need to first return to Christmas' home in the story of the Bible.

Amazing!
Revisado: 12-20-21
I didn't know what to think going into this book but I had some questions that I needed answered and I was generally curious as we approach Christmas to get a better understanding of the holiday. This was amazing! It is pretty exhaustive and does a wonderful job of laying all the facts out there, and deepening your understanding of Christmas! I'll re-listen to this every year.

I desperately need another one. I thought this was a wonderful concept and executed phenomenally! It only needed to be twice as long to flush out the story. But love the idea of taking this from the repentant tryant's perspective! So much depth and live the world. So many questions unanswered, it desperately needs a sequel

OK... So... Here's the skinny.
Revisado: 12-07-21
I thought the story was decent, but the three stars come from two problem points listed forthwith. I've listened to every spellmonger story and short story, I LOVE them! However, in this story there was nearly NO magic and from a SPELLmonger book that doesn't even make sense. Lost half a star. The narrator had a good voice for the story, but she obviously never heard John Lee... She mispronounced EVERYTHING! It was so hard listening to mispronunciations of all the names of people and places that I've been listening to for years. It was so grating I nearly gave this two stars. If you don't know how something is pronounced, ask!
The beginning was kind of boring as well, but it got very good.
