A journey to what end?
Revisado: 04-18-25
Ok I really am enjoying this storyline. Book 3 was full of surprises! I find myself not just loving the steamy, and I do mean steamy scenes between cass and poppy. I think the the journey that poppy is on to find out the truth of her origin is magical in itself. (I don’t want to spoil anything so that’s all I will say about that.)
The characters in the story that follow her and build bonds throughout the book is just perfect. Really hits that found family trope nicely. And the banter is giving everything and more - it’s my favorite feeling to just giggle and blush and laugh when reading it.
One thing I will say is, I find this story retold a million different ways in romantasy books, but the way the author throws in the twists and turns in the plot makes the story seem fresh. Like I’ve not fallen in love with a million different magical underestimated FMC who finds a broody badass who would literally burn the world for her. (Also it is my favorite trope out there)

Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

Blood, sweat, and lust..,
Revisado: 04-06-25
I was again pleasantly surprised by book 2 in the series. I started this journey blind and just thinking it was a quick read but I am now invested.
Ong our MMC is so playfully devious and wickedly I love with our FMC. — I will say that I was not a super fan of how long the “pretend thing” went on but once we got past that we looovvveedd it! Castle is like a mysteriously obvious love and poppy is unique, I so much enjoy her stabby nature.
The banter is great. 😏 the way the conversations blend, is easy to keep you engaged. Not to mention the steamy. And I do mean just down right deliciously intimate parts are always fun too.

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

This book was better than I thought it would be. I throughly enjoyed the banter. The FMC was not too whiney, and of course the MMC. brought ittttt!!! Mmmm. Hawk 🫶🏼
The story started slow, I was like not super into to it until after ch 10 but then the storyline picked up, there were some major plot twists and soo much steamy tension.
It was delicious. I am really looking forward to book two.

Scary imaginary friend vibe.
Revisado: 03-23-25
I really liked this book. It was fun and a tiny bit suspenseful. Benny was a great character and liked when he would get flustered and banter. I also really liked the storyline of this book. Dean Koontz is a great author, knows how to keep a story entertaining while also being weirdly imaginative
The bad weather friend was one of my favorite reads this year, I laughed a little, was shocked and enjoyed every second of it.

Revisado: 03-13-25
I enjoyed this book. I have not listened to the authors podcast or anything. Found the title and saw a sample and my curiosity was piqued.
The strange and bizarre stories sometimes have you questioning “can this be real”
But overall fun - nothing serious, just entertaining read.
I was surprised to find that I knew one of the curious stories told but all others were unknown to me and I’m sure to many. I’d recommend this book if you want to enjoy a little “weird but true” moment.

I enjoyed this book. It was not a wow for me, but i definitely enjoyed the plot twist and the characters.
I did get a bit confused at the timeline but not too bad where I couldn’t keep up.
There is an unsettling part of the book and it’s like Erie creepy. The ending was good I felt at ease with everything all things considered there was a streak of death for a moment.
Anyways, good read.

I have never been favored by the gods. Far from it, thanks to Zeus. Living as a cursed office clerk for the Order of Thieves, I just keep my head down and hope the capricious beings who rule from Olympus won’t notice me. Not an easy feat, given San Francisco is Zeus’ patron city, but I make do. I survive. Until the night I tangle with a different god. The worst god. Hades. For the first time ever, the ruthless, mercurial King of the Underworld has entered the Crucible—the deadly contest the gods hold to determine a new ruler to sit on the throne of Olympus.

Unpopular opinion
Revisado: 03-06-25
Well. I had high hopes, heard good things, read some reviews…
But in the end I was left unsatisfied. I will say I loved the narrator though, she was interesting and enjoyable to listen to.
Otherwise I hated the way she wrote hades storyline, like ….uhm no no Persephone is Queen of the underworld.
End game. Undying eternal love.
The FMC was a tad dramatic for my taste always having to state how she grew up how she never had anyone, it was very repetitive.
The labors weren’t that bad to read about and some times I bought myself a tad interested but overall not for me.
This was also leaning heavy YA with maybe one sexual content scene, otherwise it was all tension build up.

With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Emotional torture
Revisado: 02-26-25
I’ve said it before and I will say it again, Kristin Hannah knows how to write.
Literally takes you on a journey of two women in a war zone navigating their lives. Making hard decisions, doing what is right, living in fear; the story captivates you …and the immense amount of fear you feel for these characters -
And then to think this is just a story but context pulled from history and the horrors that people lived through once upon a time. But it is beautifully written as always and the way she ties the book together with a full circle closure. *chefs kiss
This book is amazing, though heartbreaking… it’s a powerful story and an amazing read.

Mixed Emotions.
Revisado: 01-25-25
It took me awhile to finish this book (not just because my schedule was busy this month) …I wanted to love this series I really did. I had a love - hate relationship with it, sometimes i absolutely love Luther and all his brooding - don’t get me wrong I LOVE a good “kill her and you’ll be unalive” trope. - I feel as though the author tried too hard in most moments between him and our FMC.
Also on that note she made our FMC so annoyingly whiny. Like I can’t with her constant “woes me” attitude and then followed by so many dumb choices. Ugh.
I’ve said in my past reviews of the books in this series, I feel young when ready them. It calls to my 19/20 year old self and there isn’t anything wrong with that. And as far as those types of stories this is a better one. I just prefer a much more tainted-dark-wiser type of chemistry.
I loved the world and magic and all the things the author played with in the world building. And even with my rant above I do still very much love the romantasy between Luther and diem. And…. Lastly.
THAT ENDING!!! - as far as emotions go, my jaw dropped. I really really need to know what happens next. So hats off to the author for reeling in the audience.

This is a great series! …
And the ending… like what?!
I really like the twists and turns our FMC takes and the burn between her and Luther. Mmm.
Anyways I liked this book better than the first.
I have not had a good feel good action fantasy series since ACOTAR and id say this is a good resemblance in the feelings it gives while reading.
I don’t hate the narration, but kinda don’t love it either. So I can’t make a comment more in depth on that subject. Neutral.
