Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Sci-fi concept was awesome, certain characters not so much.
Revisado: 11-28-23
I’ll admit I downloaded this audible because I thoroughly loved Brendan Fraser’s narration in Dragon Rider, and was convinced the characters voices were separate actors. Nope. Just Fraser’s brilliant performance. Thus, I came into this audible with different expectations that fell short of the mark. I did enjoy the story for what it was, however I found it difficult to believe a couple characters’ flat personalities and political judgments. I was more interested in the plot development than one-sided nuances of societal issues, so the story ended rather flatly for me. Still a good listen to burn 5 hours.

Too tidy
Revisado: 10-18-23
The series started strong and there were salacious moments, however the plot was far too convenient to accommodate the sex scenes and not so much the main struggle: reclaim the underworld.

My new favorite books
Revisado: 10-05-23
It has a profound parallel of grit and determination with a heathy splash of dramatic magic. I love this series.
Crazy cliffhanger, though. Now I’m intensely impatient for the next book!!!

Poor audio, jumpy scenes
Revisado: 08-22-23
I got lost often in this story due to the background or ambient noise was louder than the dialogue. The story jumps around a lot with characters going in and out confusing me often to their relevance in the story. Many action scenes were hard to interpret what exactly was happening.
Not my favorite audible, by far. Hard to find a redeeming factor.

When a golden-haired warrior washes up on the shores of her homeland, Lira helps the wounded man instead of turning him in. After reading his soul, she realizes Reyker is different than his brethren who attack the coasts of Glasnith.

Despite the few reviews
Revisado: 11-01-21
This particular story was cued up after I had finished my selection. Though slow and rather tragic, I found the story enchanting. The two narrators undulations of several characters were distinct and lend to the story. Perhaps the recent reviewers were impatient requiring immediate gratification for their protagonists but this is one book from a series. Answers and closure ought to come.

New narrator, but I got use to it.
Revisado: 06-20-21
Many reviews and the sample of the story provided did not do it any justice. True the different inflections on known names and places was disappointing for a fan and fellow D&D player. However, upon listening to the story a second time I appreciated Bramhall’s narration. He does this well. I envisioned the multiple races with (obviously) different inflections due to their native tongues. It made it more pleasant to hear.

Not my style
Revisado: 02-02-21
I’ll openly admit I didn’t get past chapter 3. The vernacular was irritating to hear. The narrator’s voice didn’t undulate enough to clearly identify characters when they spoke. I just had to stop it.
