Our hero, if we can call him that, is Eric. And the story is about his struggles with “luxury”, family and life itself. He inherits his father’Scar and somehow you can say that this is controlling him.
Quite a different read. Very fascinating. Rich in detail. You can identify and also feel sympathy with Eric.
But caution, this is book one in a series.
Rafe Beckley is a narrator with British English which I found sometimes hard. But that is because I am a native German speaker and more used to American English. His performance had been flawless and it was great to see that book made into an audiobook.
Give that series a try when you want something else to read/listen.

A Scot and his Irish Princess

First: I never listened to Andrew McDermott and I am totally hooked. He is exquisite. I am a native German speaker and was a bit worried that I would have issues to follow the story, but he is really good and the accent is quite sensual, a true talent and I hope to listen to more audiobooks with him as a narrator.
The story is about Anwen and Keir. Keir is charged together with his father to transport Anwen, who is unaware of her fathers’s reason, to a relative in Scotland in order to avoid marriage to the English king’s relative and that is the beginning of their love story. Keir is A Scot and Anwen is Irish. Such a lovely beginning and story idea. But politics and intrigue are interfering with their blossoming love.
Will have another look at the next audiobook. Usually I listen to them while driving longer distances, but it was hard to stop listening. Can totally recommend this new to me author and the narrator and of course the story with these wonderful characters.

Two who never hoped to find true love

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook, because the story is great. I read Garen already and wanted to read Lars therefore as well and was not disappointed. He intrigued me while reading Garen and Mirandas story and I wanted to know how he will fare.The story is full of action and with two likeable characters. Lars is not only tough but also helpful to find her true self. And you want them so badly to have their HEA. I’d love to read some more Rubicon books.When you like shifters, secrets, espionage, strong characters and hot love stories, this series is yours.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lars: Shifter Romantic Suspense?

When Lars and Tamara were found. Apologies, I can’t say more or I would spoil the story, but that had been my favorite scene.

Which character – as performed by Gregory Salinas – was your favorite?

Lars. You learn in this book more of him, his character and he is totally fascinating, so complex. I just hope that my English does not sound like that as well. The narrator is mimicking a German accent since Lars is from Germany.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have loved to, but I listened to it while driving and finished it in two sessions. But it had been hard to turn it off. Didn’t expect it any other way though.

Shifter, leader, alpha and the spy

What made the experience of listening to Garen: Shifter Romantic Suspense the most enjoyable?

Garen and Lars are the founders of Rubicon International, an espionage agency. As they are shifters, the agency grew over time and their agents are hand selected by passing a couple of tests. Garen has a few other secrets, one is that he is into Miranda, one of his spies. Miranda has a mission in Europe, Amsterdam, where she has to eliminate the boss of a human trafficking organization. Something goes wrong, Miranda is able to kill the, but she can only escape injured and with her identity exposed. Lars helps her escape from Europe and brings her to Garen, who wants to lock her away in order to protect her. Miranda is attracted to him and to the Alpha of her shifter race and Garen as her boss does his best to keep his distance. Miranda is not a full agent yet and Garen puts her through tests while fighting his need for her, his change in closeness and distance and actions confuse her. When Miranda comes up with a plan to go undercover into a local branch of the organization it is needless to say that Garen is not pleased.

Will they uncover the secret of the other and find a way to be together or will they decide on what kept them satisfied for so long, their work?

I loved this book, not your typical shifter world, but one with friendship, loyalty and a fight against a very realistic bad organization. The story twists and turns as it develops. You learn about the main characters pasts and also what drives them currently. Great story.

Garen and Lars, because of how they were written. Smart,sexy, strong, mysterious...

When Miranda fought for her life.
