Historia
For those who witnessed the global collapse of socialism, its resurrection in the 21st century comes as a surprise, even a shock. How can socialism work now when it has never worked before? In this pathbreaking audiobook, best-selling author Dinesh D’Souza argues that the socialism advanced today by the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Bernie Sanders, Ilhan Omar, and Elizabeth Warren is very different from the socialism of Lenin, Mao, and Castro.

Historia
In this thrilling narrative, O’Reilly blends primary, never-before-released interview material with a history that recounts Trump’s childhood and family and the factors from his life and career that forged the worldview that the president of the United States has taken to the White House. Not a partisan pro-Trump or anti-Trump book, this is an up-to-the-minute, intimate view of the man and his sphere of influence.

Much more "spin" than O' Reilly lets on
Revisado: 10-06-20
Bill O 'Reilly does his best to REALLY explain Donald Trump....
It sort of works until it doesn't--O 'Reilly openly points out Trump's dark sides and weaknesses but still with a strong bias that "the ends REALLY DOES justify the means".
Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over........
It gets NAUSEATING. The Narrator did an excellent job---no fault there.

Definitely Worst Narration Ever
Revisado: 10-16-19
I saw the other review about the "worst narration ever" and I didn't think it could be that bad. This is SO BAD I can't even listen to it. Who edits these recordings?
I can't understand how Audible would even allow it. I definitely want my money back on this one no questions asked,
I've listened to over 150 Audible type books. This is the FIRST ONE I had to shut off because of the narrator.

Historia
Atheism's leading lights have long been intellectuals raised in the secular and academic worlds: Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, and the late Christopher Hitchens. By contrast, Jerry DeWitt was born and bred into the church and was in fact a Pentecostal preacher before arriving at atheism through an extraordinary dialogue with faith that spanned more than a quarter of a century. Hope After Faith is his account of that journey. DeWitt was a pastor in the town of DeRidder, Louisiana, and was a fixture of the community. In private, however, he'd begun to question his faith.

Author Narrates His Story Well......
Revisado: 10-11-19
A Very Good Reader of his own story........and by the time I got through it all I was exhausted and not in a good way.
I felt tired out from listening to someone I felt was amazingly gullible on both sides of the fence and someone a little too self centered for my tastes.
But it was worth listening to (ONE TIME) just to "broaden my horizons"
Would not listen to again nor would I buy other books by this author...

Historia
"The tragedies keep coming. As we reel from the latest horror..." So begins a new epilogue, illustrating how Columbine became the template for nearly two decades of "spectacle murders". It is a false script, seized upon by a generation of new killers. In the wake of Newtown, Aurora, and Virginia Tech, the imperative to understand the crime that sparked this plague grows more urgent every year. What really happened April 20, 1999? The horror left an indelible stamp on the American psyche, but most of what we "know" is wrong.

Historia
Let's face it. Church isn't working. We hear sermons about the abundant life Jesus promised, but how many of us are actually living it? How many of our churches are thriving? How many people in our congregations are experiencing God's blessings? Maybe it's time to call it quits. Quit church? Well, not exactly. Drawing from his experience coaching hundreds of churches toward true growth, Chris Sonksen calls on us to quit our casual, cultural commitment to church as we know it....

Didn't Really Inspire.....
Revisado: 06-30-18
The author may be "right" on every single point, yet after listening to this book I feel exhausted. Something in me wants to just cry out "God, please help me with all this", but somehow this book makes me feel that even THAT would not be enough...
Frankly, that's why I don't really like it... I'm not good enough to keep track of everything I must DO.
I'm halfway between the positive and pathetic review...

Christine Benvenuto had been married for more than twenty years - with three young children - when her husband turned to her one night in bed and said, "I'm thinking constantly about my gender." Unhappy in his body, he wanted to become a woman. Part memoir, part voyeur's look into a marriage, Sex Changes is a journey through the end of a marriage and out the other side.

Something Doesn't Quite Work, Not Exactly Sure Why
Revisado: 05-10-18
I listened to this story twice, since I'm genuinely interested in this subject.
I don't expect the author Christine to be any other person than herself. She did tell her story honestly and the way she wanted to tell it. I'm fine with that.
What did NOT work for me was the narrator, Renee. NO doubt, she has an excellent voice and is a gifted narrator---just NOT for THIS story. My gut tells me that Christine should have narrated her OWN story. That might have communicated something important.
As it stands now, there's a lot of subtance here, and a truly interesting story, but it just sort of fizzles and fades.

Good or Bad, She Held My Attention
Revisado: 01-23-18
Would you consider the audio edition of Single State of Mind to be better than the print version?
I never read the print version.
Would you be willing to try another book from Andi Dorfman? Why or why not?
Maybe. I'm a generation older with a totally different life experience. I find her story of what it means to be human quite fascinating!
What does Andi Dorfman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She does a magnificent job reading her own story, regardless of how one might feel about "her lifestyle" or the thousands of F Bombs that explode every few seconds.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
At first, I thought I wouldn't get through it because of the profanity (I just never use any of that language myself).
After a while, I realized she was only telling her story as honestly as possible, with all the language that she really uses.
And at that point I morphed internally from "judging Andi's lifestyle and language" to feeling "Wow! This woman is an excellent writer!" because all she was doing is telling her story exactly the way she felt it and with the language she actually uses day to day.
Any additional comments?
For me, this book is like an automobile wreck on the highway... You kind of feel guilty looking, but you just can't look away! Once I started this book, I had to keep listening.
