Historia
What a delight it is to finally be able to enjoy a simple meal again! I have been in the throes of morning sickness for the last few months as Darcy and I prepare to welcome a brand-new addition to our little family. Now that I am feeling better, I have realized I am dreadfully bored! It seems that all my nearest and dearest are off leading their own busy lives while I sit at home and attempt to train our two adorably naughty puppies. Fun as it may be, it is hard not to long for a little adventure, a change of pace, before my true confinement begins when the baby comes.

Still love the series but Why the inconsistencies?!
Revisado: 01-08-23
Is this being written by someone else? Belinda should have already known about Chanel since she was in the South of France with Georgie. She also already apprenticed with Chanel at the end. I still like the stories but first the narrator changes then there are inconsistencies like this. It’s driving me mad.

Re: Jill’s Love Life - Please Just Listen to Kathy!
Revisado: 02-10-20
Why does Jill get so incredibly delusional when it comes to Luther Stone? As in...not the the kind of protagonist or even heroine I want to root for. I find myself skipping over her any of the parts having to do w her love life - I want to be entertained not irritated.

Stretching it out too much!
Revisado: 02-10-20
I get that this is light reading but it’s seems like Jill is purposely going from simple naïveté (which is OK at first) to completely stupid and even a bit entitled just to keep the story going. Seems a little too late now since there are so many books to go but I wish it was kept to Quality over Quantity.
I’ll probably still keep listening as I do enjoy the performance of some characters like Barry, Grandma, and the Twins and the now-familiarity of the two worlds. But please stop making Jill act inept just to keep the “plot” going. And by plot I mean that of the stand-alone book. When does the overall plot kick back in?!

Historia
Marianne has a life others dream of. A beautiful townhouse on the best street in the neighbourhood. Three bright children who are her pride and joy. Sometimes her past still hurts: losing her mother early, growing up in foster care. But her husband, Simon, is always there. A successful surgeon, he’s the envy of every woman they’ve ever met. Flowers, gifts, trips to France: nothing is too good for his family. Then Simon says another woman’s name. The way he lingers on it, Caroline, gives Marianne a shudder of suspicion, but she knows it’s nothing - she can’t entertain this flash of paranoia.

Only halfway through and trying...
Revisado: 10-29-19
...but it’s as if I’ve been sitting listening to a masochistic woman vent for hours. She even says she’s like a drug addict. The minute I think I can get in her corner she starts playing the worst kind of victim - the kind that feeds off of the pain. Listening to this makes me feel like I’M going insane with her.
I’ll give it a little longer. Maybe I’ll fast forward a couple of chapters to see if there’s some redemption to look forward to.

Historia
What happens when the haggling is done and the shops are closed? When the quest has been given, the steeds saddled, and the adventurers are off to their next encounter? They keep the world running, the food cooked, and the horses shoed, yet what adventurer has ever spared a thought or concern for the Non-Player Characters? In the town of Maplebark, four such NPCs settle in for a night of actively ignoring the adventurers drinking in the tavern when things go quickly and fatally awry.

So glad I finally gave this a chance!
Revisado: 01-04-18
First, I should mention that I am a big fan of Drew Hayes' SuperPowereds Series. Yes, the storyline and characters may seem sophomoric but he does a great job at showing that merely possessing powers/magic isn't sufficient - but when adding cunning and ingenuity to a character, it is much easier to appreciate and connect to them. He does the same for NPC's, though they are very different storylines.
OK, for my review:
As someone who had to look up what RPGs, NPCs, etc. meant, I was thoroughly surprised how much I ended up liking this book. It took me a long, long time to commit to giving it a chance - and even after purchasing, I almost returned it after a few chapters. What the Heck was going on?!
Again, I'm glad I stuck with it. Drew Hayes does an amazing job of bringing seemingly mundane things to life (in this case, a table-top dice rolling role-playing game - apologies to the gamers out there if that's not an actual term or whatever). In any case, enjoyed this as you get different viewpoints - sometimes you hate Adventurers and then others you don't. I like the multiple perspectives, though of course the meat of it is from the NPC's as they are the stars of the show.
Though the characters aren't as well-developed as in SuperPowereds, this was a fun read/listen nevertheless. You most definitely have to be in the mood for a superficial, easy, yet fun time. You're not going to get an Enders Game-type of experience from this. But it's definitely road trip-worthy!
