Historia
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

I put off listening to this book for so long, I wanted this originally to help with loss in my own life, and after losing a loved one decided to listen. It moved me, made me laugh, made me very, and overall it was an amazing listen. Thank you for sharing your stories!

I wish I could like this
Revisado: 05-08-23
This story has potential but there’s a few things that feel weird when you consider an older man is writing for a 17 year old girl. He ends the book with her agreeing to a date with 29 year old field agent in training. He makes the main character too flaky or trying to be too serious. She throws tantrums in therapy and trying to dive headlong into things and pulling back. Making her waffling on her sexuality seem too much like whoever’s giving her attention is who she likes at the time (it’s too stereotypical of what people think teen girls are). I understand people are layered but this isn’t it.

Good lead up, ending confusing
Revisado: 04-16-21
The story had a good beginning, good build up, but the end felt rushed and a bit out of left field. Bouncing between different people and points in time was confusing. I think this had a lot of potential, I wish I had more background and an ending that didn’t feel rushed.

So much potential
Revisado: 09-16-20
I was so looking forward to these books, the in between bits were described a lot and the action portions skipped over a lot of details. The birth control portion, where it’s stated that after her first period she can have sex unprotected, I’m not able to overlook that inaccuracy. I know that it wouldn’t fit in with the timeline of the books. I think there is great potential but what these books contained could have been one really good book. I enjoyed the descriptors but felt they weren’t placed in the parts that needed them. I was just waiting for more. I will give another shot to the author and I enjoyed the narrator!
