Beautiful work that is hard to stop listening too, yet somehow hard to finish. A lot of us with mental health issues might start getting more depressed ourselves knowing how horrible depression affects our loved ones. So proceed with caution.
I have to say I kind of rolled my eyes a bit when things would get so "off track" into the author's storytelling - at first, but then I just realized that's how she paints a narrative and how she coped with her own trauma at the time. Very fascinating, eye openning book that you can get lost in to some extent.

Do not buy this. First of all, there's a terribly annoying, loud flute sound that happens at the beginning of every section that will have you turning down your computer and then turning it back up again over and over to hear the vocabulary. Secondly, the translation is speaking wayyy too fast so you don't have any idea if you're pronouncing each word correctly.

Find something that has at least one slow repeat followed by normal speed and avoid this.

I cannot believe the pain and suffering Michelle Knight had to ensure in her first 31 years on this planet. Not only to be a kidnap victim, but to be the one her tormentor abused the most physically, sexually and mentally for eleven years is the worst Hell I could imagine. Hideous, cowardly, disgusting Ariel Castro will rot in Hell, but Michelle's strength will continue to inspire me.

Such a fantastic book. Flora Jessop *is* the founding mother of lasting freedom from the FLDS. She's provided a gateway for girls wanting to escape the cult, and inspires hope with her raw tenacity. Her account of Aunt Lydia is hilarious to me because of how admired and adored she was within the cult. She was the true Witch of the West!

Would you listen to Lost Boy again? Why?

Absolutely, there are so many shocking, disgusting, comical or just simply ridiculous events he went through in this that you have to listen to about three times to get all the details.

What did you like best about this story?

The description of Warren's manner and character is better than any I've heard. Because Brent's father was Warren's brother, you can just feel the jealousy and in-superiority he must have felt as a gocky, nonathletic, less than handsome teenager with big ambitions.

What does Mike Chamberlain bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He was a great reader that really added Brent's voice to the story, even if it wasn't truly Brent's at all. His annunciation and tone was perfect.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Beaten, controlled, sodomized and controlled by the Prophet who promised to be his salvation, one man learned to take back his life."

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth the money. A great addition to the library of anyone collecting information about this cult. If you've read "The Witness Wore Red" and "Stolen Innocence", this starts to bring Warren's motives full circle. You will see how he molested or raped not only Brent but practically any young child in his orbit. He was such a sick man who I am happy will sit in prison until the day he dies.

Would you try another book from OSHO and/or OSHO?

Absolutely not. The first 20 minutes of this was well enough to realize what this guy says is a crock and will only negatively impact me.

What could OSHO have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

He was a radical spiritualist who had his own unique perspective but in my opinion, to say "your family and community leaders are your biggest enemies to emotional growth" and discredit Jesus and Buddah as hindrances to personal growth was so painful to hear in a fragile emotional state. I came looking for strength and found disparaging remarks about loved ones and lost hope.

Have you listened to any of OSHO’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I purchased the one about how to cope with being lonely but was as equally unimpressed by his words in the first 30 minutes or so.

What character would you cut from Accepting Myself the Way I Am?

Cold. Condemning. Sacrilegious.

Any additional comments?

"You have a choice to either be your authentic self and be shunned by society or be who they want you to be and be miserable forever." That UNTRUE phrase stuck in my head for a week like a bad head cold and initiated a LOT of depression and self doubt. There is nothing about this book that will make you accept who you are, but rather a path to following who I believe is a bad man.

Would you try another book from Diane Fanning and/or Dan John Miller?

I absolutely plan to listen to more by Diane Fanning but will avoid Dan Miller. The story here is very worthwhile and Fanning does a great job portraying it without bias.

What other book might you compare Under Cover of the Night to and why?

For Laci, because it's about an arrogant, sociopath husband that killed his wife in cold blood and then lies to everyone thinking he can just move on with his life with his mistress. The difference between the two is this book is much more impersonal, as it comes from Fanning's perspective based on facts and family testimony.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I could not stand how he read the female voices. It sounds very meek and too high pitched. His Southern accent reading the men's voices was pretty good, but on the females he missed the boat entirely. This made it hard to get through the book because the females talk more than the males and this story was about Joselyn. For this reason, I definitely feel this should have been read aloud by a female.

Could you see Under Cover of the Night being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

A movie, absolutely.

Any additional comments?

**Spoiler** RIP Joselyn, this story is so heart-wrenching because she really did know what was going to happen to her and took steps to prevent it. What was up with the alarm system being turning off AFTER she got home? Seems kind of pointless on the company's part.

This story was confusing to the point I stopped halfway to come back to it after starting over. Not a lot the Potter women or Jaime Curd makes much sense when you first hear because of the childish or deranged dialect. However once listen a second time it starts coming together.
Not fond of narrator. He has a slow, monotone almost robotic at times manner to the point I wished I could speed him up. it's understandable though because again it's hard to add a natural affect to such nonsensical writing.

I cried so many times listening to this book, being able to relate to the closeness Laci shares with her Mom and knowing how devastated my own mother would be. All of the signs of Laci's spirit after death are jarring. She was such a beautiful, vibrant person.. My heart feels so much pain for this family. I highly encourage buying this.
