Historia
The world needs real men, real bad. And there are all sorts of conflicting ideas and messages about what a "real man" is (and is not). Is a real man one who hunts, loves sports, grills meat, fixes cars, and climbs mountains? Sure, sometimes. But that's not really the point of being a man. Brant Hansen paints a refreshingly specific, compelling picture of what men are made to be: "Keepers of the Garden." He calls for men of all interests and backgrounds to be ambitious about the right things and to see themselves as defenders of the vulnerable, with whatever resources they have.

Brant did a good job both writing and reading. Good content makes one think a little deeper about being a Godly man in today’s society. The reading flowed really well almost like a conversation well a one sided conversation 😉

Through the dramatic events of 2020 and the ensuing uncertainty and anxiety ever since, people’s lives and illusions of security have been turned upside down. Whenever our plans, hopes, and dreams are put on hold—or worse, lost forever—we feel discouraged, lost, and isolated, and desperately praying, “God, where are You?” Matthew West’s newest book, The God Who Stays, is an engaging and thoughtful exploration, balanced with his trademark wit and humor, that helps us reconnect to the biblical truth of a personal Savior who never leaves our side.

Historia
Jack Chisholm is 'the people's pastor.' He leads a devoted and growing mega church, has several best-selling books, and a memorable slogan, 'We have got to do better.' Jack knows how to preach, and he understands how to chastise people into performing. What he doesn't know is anything about grace. This year, when it comes time for the Christmas sermon, the congregation at Grace Cathedral will look to the pulpit, and Jack will not be there. Of course, they will have seen plenty of him already - on the news.

Our thought lives have incredible power over our mental, emotional, and even physical well-being. In fact, our thoughts can either limit us to what we believe we can do or release us to experience abilities well beyond our expectations. When we choose a mindset that extends our abilities rather than placing limits on ourselves, we will experience greater intellectual satisfaction, emotional control, and physical health. The only question is... how?

Revisado: 05-10-19
The information is great I like how it’s laid out. I’m going to have to get the physical book now to really put more practice into the work.
Unfortunately there was very dry reading of this it isn’t as enjoyable to hear. I listen to Dr. Leaf’s podcast there’s a lot of emotions and inflection in her voice. I wish she would read her own book.

It was a good book. The reading of it was less engaging with limited inflection of voice that it wasn’t as enjoyable to listen too. I’ve heard others by Don Hagen this wasn’t his best reading.

Great reminders
Revisado: 07-11-18
It is easy to allow things of this world to overtake you. To be consumed with tomorrow when we are only promised now. The truths and promises of the Bible are woven throughout to remind us that God has it taken care of. There were moments in my listening I could feel anxiety rising as I allowed my mind to find reasons to dispute the teaching. As I allowed the words to penetrate my walls the calm came.

The problem of suffering is often raised by those who question the goodness or the power of God. In this book, newly revised and expanded, R.C. Sproul provides biblical answers to the questions all of us ask about suffering and addresses some of the many unbiblical conclusions that are put forth today. In the end, he shows that suffering is not outside the realm of God's providence and his good purposes.

Finally on Audiobook
Revisado: 12-11-15
What made the experience of listening to Surprised by Suffering the most enjoyable?
I've started reading this one but often get too busy to finish. This is a great reminder that the Christian life is not always happy and there is suffering but God continues to be there through it all.
Which character – as performed by George W. Sarris – was your favorite?
I like that he does change his voice more books should be read this way it's helpful when there are stories within the narrative.
Any additional comments?
I think the is one of my favorites. It's not the happy book as the title also indicates but it is a blessing to know that God is sovereign and he is always there through good an bad. And the suffering has a heavenly purpose.

Nice Perspective on old stories
Revisado: 05-21-15
What made the experience of listening to Day of War the most enjoyable?
I liked the detail and the way it brought new light to the story of Kind David.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Can't really say.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
I liked the voice it was strong.
I would have like to hear this one in drama style different voices to help separate characters better.
If you could take any character from Day of War out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Probably none, I don't imagine they would have good table manners not sure that was what warriors worried about.
Any additional comments?
I hope they do make a movie of this one as I read about. I think it's a good story for visuals.

Amazing Examples of Working with Trauma
Revisado: 07-10-14
If you could sum up The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog in three words, what would they be?
A supervisor gave this book to me when I was an intern. I started reading it back then but never had time to finish. The Audiobook made it real and accessible. Amazing work that has been done for children and families by Dr. Perry. Really touched me and inspired me to work harder for my clients.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Every story seemed to reach parts of thoughts that moved me and helped me recognize where I can improve my care. I would say the title case study was one of the shortest although meaningful there are some great cases in this book.
