Historia
The Skull Throne of Krasia stands empty. Built from the skulls of fallen generals and demon princes, it is a seat of honor and ancient, powerful magic, keeping the demon corelings at bay. From atop the throne, Ahmann Jardir was meant to conquer the known world, forging its isolated peoples into a unified army to rise up and end the demon war once and for all. But Arlen Bales, the Warded Man, stood against this course, challenging Jardir to a duel he could not in honor refuse.

This is NOT Filler
Revisado: 09-02-15
Many of the reviews say that this book is filler and should be skipped because it doesn't progress the "main" story. They are wrong. I almost skipped this book on their advice and would have regretted it. It is true that the warded man doesn't appear too often, but his story very much progresses. More importantly, this is not a series about just one character. There are many "main" characters, and they each have a story. Before listening to this book, I went back and listened to the other books in the series (it had been a while, and this is a rich series). When listened to back to back, this book fits in perfectly. It follows the same main characters as the other books. It continues story arcs introduced in the earlier books. If I had a vague memory of the earlier plot, and only remembered the warded man's story, I probably would have been disappointed; that would have been my fault. If I had skipped this book, I also can only imagine how confused I would have been when listening to the next book in the series. This is not filler. If you enjoyed the earlier books, you'll enjoy this one. If it has been a while, do yourself a favor and listen to the prior books before listening to this one.

Historia
J.R. King's 12-year-old antihero turned hero, Arianna Kelt, is a reformed thief and wizard seer. Now you wouldn't think being a wizard seer would be such a big deal, but it is a big deal to the Wizards of Skyhall. For you see, those particular wizards are sworn to protect the citizens of Earth from all the things they shouldn't know about, namely wizards, warlocks, and all the creatures of the magical realms that no humans should know exist.

Terrible Narrator
Revisado: 03-03-09
The book itself may be wonderful. I can't tell. I listen to dozens of books a year, and can normally get past a bad narrator. But this narrator is just awful. It's like he is cold reading the material & uses an "excited grampa" voice for everything. There are no pauses, no actual emotion, just sort of a hurried, breathless, "oh this is so exciting" way of speaking used for everything. I can't even finish listening to this book (first time ever). It is truly horrible narration.
